gran turismo 5

Fresh Recruit
So gran turismo has been confirmed for November 24th. and after all these years
there's no options for alloy wheels or paint for the 800 standard cars, only 5 tracks have the day night cycle and 11 have weather. whats everyone else's thoughts on the news?

As someone who's been waiting for this game for years I think its pretty poor compared to games like forza that have put out 3 really good games in the time this has been in development.

yeh but the feel of the driving and the graphics are way better than forza if prolougue is anytrhing to go off.. the only thing im deciding on is to go with the signature edition or standard. But i suppose it would have been nice for a bit more customisation rather than just car setup, still doesnt bother me though as forza needed all that to actually get anywhere as they cannot make forza anywhere near as technical or accurate. a new NFS underground would be immence as that was great but back to the feel & physics from U2 as new NFS have gone back arcade style =( that would do it for me along the lines of customisation racing games.

GT5 will be much better than any other racing simulator available to date without any doubt! everything just improved and refined, just cant wait for it :)

i dont have enthusiasm for the game anymore its turning out to be a big let down in all areas

people will be glad to hear gt6 is in the making already no wonder there is so many delays they haven the one out before working on the next one

when will bsomeone make a true jdm and general tuning racer simulation enviroment game!
i have forza and i hate it with a passion it feels rubbish it just seems pointless and boring

but sure gt5 now is no more jdm than my sock. with nascar now ant the hole lot you can see the direction they are going in. forza is a very good game and has racing and tuning there. its very rare you will see standard cars racing around a track. the hole edge of motorsport is to stay ahead with tuning and design if gt5 are staying away from that end of it then its just a simulator and not a proper racer. i have euro truck simulator here and only for the odd pit stop now and then i would say its pretty boaring. i know they have race cars in the game but its not the same as racing a car you built or spent time setting up

people say forza was too need for speed but i think they had it on the money. proper parts engine swaps gen body styling thats proper motorsport having better parts and setups than the comp simple as. how many people here have a standard car and is happy where its at? very few i want my car to be the best it can be if it be power/chassis/looks ect

if gt5 dont have some racing heritage in the game when its out i wont be getting it simple as

ya forza had the right idea but i just didnt like the feel of it or the menu setup and you never felt rewarded playing it! its very suprising gran turismo hasnt dipped into the jdm tuner mindset more as its a big market with a bigger following! and the makers are japanese! will there be PROPER drifting mode in gt5!?

yeah in fairness forza had cartoonish feel to it but as said was on the money.

there will be setups for drifting ect now if its a event or not is another question but its there anyway

my ideal game would be a outright racer with all the ups and downs that comes with it. setup up teams enter in track days earn money buy brand parts weather they be new or secondhand with the danger of a sh one failing in a race then having to pay to get it rebuilt in time for the next race ect. really get into it look at forza they had so many stores with bull why cant they be like teams and selling parts ect.. haha have sacha here selling td04 kits you know what i mean. i really taught gt5 was one step closer but they took the global appeal card instead of making it great

ya mate your on the money would be class to have real jdm second hand cars with real specs with real performance parts with real effects on performance! toyotagtturbo.com should make a videogame:)

Well i liked Forza, but saying that i could go and play GT4 an hour later and not get annoyed with the graphics or the feel.IMO its forza who has to step up the game.So far the only thing that they've done wrong in my opinon is not every car has interior views and the sound is still not 100% correct

Kaido battle is what you want for the ps2 you get ep71 82 and 91's and you get the tons kit ect also when modifing you get a choice of parts and if you choose the wrong setup you will get less power which is pretty cool I thought

It's a racing Sim! I imagine the realism, car control etc etc is going to be incredible and way beyond anything we've seen before. They had a Gran Turismo 5 Le Mans sim over in Le mans and it felt incredible to drive, very realistic. I imagine that's a slightly revised edition of the Prologue version they released. The trouble with most racing games is they're not real, just more enjoyable / game play based where as this is a real racing sim. It's a bummer you can't change the wheels & colours if that's true (you don't see it in the race anyway), but most of the customisation will be down to setting up the cars! Gear ratios, ride height, brake balance, etc - the sort of stuff you don't get in other 'racing games'. I cannot wait for it to come out.

but forza had all of the above you mentioned. sure how real will gt5 be? its not very real if you cant change the car for racing other than the basics and basics dont win races in the real world. the title is driving sim so why get involved in racing why not have you driving around roads or something. im not saying to have a load of cars looking like they were in a explosion in a max power convention but alot of the race cars they have are based on standard models with kits that are aerodynamic ect.. so why not make that at least a option for people who want to build/setup their own it makes sense as every racing team does it. the feel of the car yes will be good but it should be one of many reasons to buy/play the game not just the only one. games are made to be entertaining and this defo has a big lack of it. look at the car list there is 5 or 6 of the same cars but different years whats that about why is that appealing? its the same car same model but lets do 5 different ones thats crazy. if they spent half there effort in other areas this game would be better than good it would one of the best out there

You've obviously never seen Kaido Racer for the PS2 it had everything JDM, all the GT's and Glanza and all could be TOM's kitted too. Touge battles and drifting, tuning, anime etc shame the handling was a bit iffy.
