Grooved Disks = Fail

That is only the 2nd set I have seen crack and I have sold literally hundreds. Of course they are not meant for track day driving, the 4 pot Willwood set up would be buch better with the bigger and thicker discs

You go through much more brake cycles and from higher speeds, surprised you had to ask that as you do track days

Well, that is obvious, but I was under the impression that the 3G's were 'uprated' items and up to the job :(. Perhaps a warning on your site/adverts to say they're suitable for fast road, but not track, would be an idea. :)

that's a very generic article - it applies to the cheaper "Tuner" discs made by the people that want your money and couldn't care less about anything else - 3G is a subsidiary of Brembo, do you really think they'd make substandard parts?

And for a road car, everything discussed in that article may be viable, but just think...if grooves/holes don't serve any purpose...why do all, and I mean ALL sportier, high-end, hyper, and Race cars use them? Doubt aesthetics count for much...But for a Starlet, or anything beneath the aforementioned car classes, it is a case of a bit of want of the style. But this article is too much of a case of "hey look, the guy wrote a lot, lets all blindly follow him"

What say you? Grooved disks are poop? Well, yes. Nothing to do with the fact my 3G's have died, but I've been looking into upgrading and I'm going for flat rotors rather than grooved/drilled.

He's mad, surely?!

No, actually, for a change :p. Have a read of this, see what you think... >>> Teh Linkage

Discuss :)

I said this about 2 years ago!

I've got standard vented discs on my race car.

Drilling discs is not for heat displacement, it's to lighten them. Decent pads don't glaze so there is no real need for slots either!

Rotors are different to discs, rotors dont have the hub mount. You buy a seperate one - this again is all about weight saving.
