the glanza is my second car...first was a corsa B 1.4 16v...so ive had the glanza 2 months and it still feels like an apsolute rocket at 138bhp. not just that but its an apsolute chick magnet!!! wudnt expect it to be as quick as a 206 gti 180hp model, but the 3 reasons i decided to buy a starlet were because they are rare, they r mean looking little beasts with the wicked bonnet vent, and they are very tuneable...i reckon if u had 1 bar of boost it might not be far off more modern hot hatches like clio sports, 206 gti180 etc lol...im only boosting to 0.7 bar but have no back seats and bypassed boost pipes so it shoots off faster in 1st and 2nd, think ule all agree no serious modification there, but thats enuf for me to beat a clio 2litre to 60mph and stay in front till bout 80ish!

At stage 1 ( 0.8bar, full exhaust and decat, filter and actuator), mines a seriously fast car.

Faster than anything new by far, not only with the French measuring everything in PS to make it sound faster, but due to the huge weight advantage!

GT's & G-Z's are the bollox :)

Id say seriously fast is maybe a little bit over the top. It would be fairly nippy with those mods but it aint going to set the world on fire. no offence intended. I guess its what you are used to

In comparison there isnt much in it between the 206gti and the starlet the 206 is definitely quicker midrange tho.

Get one with over 200bhp then you definitely will not be dissapointed:p:p

agree with sean totally, b4 i bought mine i went 4 a spin in a hybrid ct9 glanza which was very very fast indeed even running just 12psi boost it was quicker than most cars, but ive since been in a td04 glanza running 1.4bar, and that was mental...if u had sumthin like that u wudnt even av 2 bother with modern hatchbacks not even civic type R's

im sorry but you can only go by reviews deano, and most of the reviews are just opinions..

they arent as slow as you make out, ok there not the quickest things either,

but a completely standard starlet i dont think would keep up

ive been in a 180 and also had a go against a couple in my stock GT and its dead even..... cant shift him and vise verser..... on a long run after 90-100mph it starts to have a bit more poke up top....

quick motors and handle great.

I'd also like to highlight I bought mine HEAVILY modified, and she's just tipped 17,000 miles in around 10 months completely (touch wood!) trouble free.

Its definetely down to luck, with a little knowledge thrown in there

well my gt is standard accept for greddy type s bov,cat back system,actuator running at 0.8 bar (and handling mods).to be honest my friend has just purchased a corsa vxr not long ago and has done around 5k miles, and through 1st,2nd and 3rd my car will push infront by a good 2 or 3 car lengths and then by the time it hits 4th the gt just slows down but still even standard there nippy cars in the lower gears.

jus got my glanza also and i love it.
Think it goes rather fast also, although i'm getting used to it allready, watching the speedo allways surprises me. What feels like 60mph actually is 100mph, think it's cool cuz it such a small car.

going for a rebuild and 300+hp after summer tho, but i love it standard :)

Yeah the 180's are quick, i kept up with 1 but it was a car ful, i onli had a passenger so if it was lighter in the back it would have gone.

have a started a 180 vs starlet debate :p hehe

i think i might have a look at a starlet that has had somethin done to it, ie at LEAST an exhaust and see what i get from that.

Im not expecting it to feel much fater than my 206, but that starlet didnt even pick up, so im minus'in that one out my search lol

I find them in standard form pretty nippy and no slow by any means.

I've not had a bash in a modded one though but I'm sure in time I will.

that should change his mind lolz.. btw iv upped the boost running 1.2bar hehe.. mappin in progress.. man the EMU is a headache... yet so fun to tune... bah the dillema never ends :rolleyes:
