Just a quick direction.

My engine builder for my race 4g63 engine dissapproves the use of a metal head gasket, he said that a metal HG chews the head up.

Then he is full of shit like you, with a freshly re-surfaced 4g63 block and head so the MLS gasket seals well they are the only option to go for, I have read the max performance 4g63 book by RRE and I suggest you and your tuner do the same.

Compression would already be higher than std due to the thinner 0.6mm HG no need for high comp pistons far too risky with regards to det etc, i ran a 0.6mm HG with Weisco low comps and a custom CT9 hybrid at 1.3 bar which was mapped to within an inch of its life, never had a problem and it was unbelievabely responsive until i started putting a 75 shot of gas into it and detached the crank from the block.

0.6 with some high comp pistons and 1.1 bar would be an animal :p

Though not tried and tested so I wouldn't advise it unless you have time and money to test it!

I'd run a metal 1.2mm for 1.4bar. Although a guy I know says hed rather run std hg then that will blow before any serious damage occurs if something goes pete tong

Standard head gasket is 1.2mm and when compressed becomes around 1mm.
But a mls hg will remain the same thickness.
You have to work that out when thinking in terms of compression ratio.

I also noticed that the zep 1.2mm mls is in fact 1.25mm thick when uncompressed.
