Makes you wonder why people spend so so much for the hrf kit....

The stock setup wont see any problems at all up to 8k rpm easy and probably more, and you will not really need any higher then 8k rpm unless you have something like a TD05 on it!!!

Like Jezzer says, if i was going to change my shims it would be for yaris single piece lifters. Probably rather expensive though.

you need to go to shim-under or shimless buckets if you are using cams with a high ramp rate (which is required to get high lift) because otherwise the cam will flick the shim out the top of the bucket, and do a lot of grinding and other bad stuff in there.

1SZ shimless buckets are about $350AU for a full set from Toyota Australia over here (shipped in from japan). you have to order each one to fit exactly the right thickness. as a bonus to no being able to flick out the shim, the bucket is about 15 grams lighter than a standard bucket and shim. thats a lot of reduced weight in the valve train when you have 16 of them. which means you can get away with having slightly softer valve springs.

Hi Mate

I had the same problem as you are facing now. Quick solution is to
use your normal shim under the cap. Then you can grind the shim to the required size.

Took me only half a day in the machine shop....

And the award goes too! You can either get them made or you can do what condomen said and grind your originals..

Another valid point well thought..
