Hey folks new to this forum

I just bought a Starlet Gt Turbo on thursday there, my mate was posting about it overheating a little when on a sort sustained boost as we had been doing. I'll be looking into this.

I'am also trying to fix the front windows, there not going down. The motors seem to be taking power, i can hear clicking either from either door when i use the button. I also checked all the fuses which are all fine.

Hey thanks for the welcomes guys.

Would I be better posting about the windows elsewhere? I normally would anyway but I thought just cause I was new I would post it along with my intro?

Hi mate, welcome to TGTT.

I think this is the thread he posted here:

http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?106256-Overheating-when-on-boost

I'm hoping she hasn't caught a headgasket virus from being close to the MG lol..

You could post about the windows in the Electrical section of the Tech forums but if both motors are getting power you might find the motors have jammed internally (the grease turns to putty after a decade or two) or the sliders on the regulators could be sticking. Would certainly be worth removing them and having a look.

It's rather common for the motors to die. A window motor should sting around £30~40 a side if you need fresh ones.

Hope that helps,

Jay

Welcome along, sorry to hear about your problems.

There is loads of information about common faults in the Awesomely helpful section, also if you use the search function top right, you will find loads of threads about such problems.

Hope you get them sorted quickly and cheaply!

Lol, I can safely say the Zs is the best car I have at the moment but lets hope with little cost and a little effort the Starlet can take that honour. My MG is the V6 which does not tradtionally have HG problems.

Speaking on the Mg forum they say a front mount intercooler can stop the radiator from getting enough air? The coolant is a little rusty and i was going to change it but I was thinking i might need to replace the raditor or get an uprated one?

On the windows I wasn't sure if it would be the motors as both don't work. I took the door cards of for a look and broke the silly little clip that fits into the door handle. One of the worst things is the the light in the dials cluster does not light the temp guage.

So I cant see when its overheating, it is overheating, i could put the heaters to stop it overheating but cause the windows don't go down I overheat :-(
