Evening All,

Late holiday booked to escape the troubles of life.

Amsterdam for 4 nights, 5 days.

If anyone has been can they suggest attractions and "things" to do.

Obviously the RLD is a go go :haha:

You dont need to go do much! I spent a week there and saw no tourist things even though there are loads of them! Coffee shop and RLD are all you need to find.

Oh also, dont walk up the small alley ways on your own. Plenty of shadey characters that are willing to mug ya.

We have booked Park Plaza at VondelPark, about 1 mile out the centre.

Barneys Coffee shop is meant to be the nuts... but there are so many.

Been reading up about all the addicts following you for money haha, any good night clubs? read about a club called "escape" that is meant to be alright

Well me and my best mate recently came out of 3 year relationships...

milkweg is an excellent club... proper dance music in one room, old school/ nu school/ general rock in another. Heineken experience is also well worth the price! As mentioned above, coffee shops! If you can find lavender in said shops... happy days!:) and the RLD of course!

Have to check that out, want some good dance music!! i dont think you can go to amsterdam if your not going to get laid and smoke drugs?? whats the point..

Oh yeah, good shops over there to buy clothes? lol

If any of the dodgy characters pull a knife on you, just be polite and say sorry mate and wlk off. They try to take advantage of stoned people who panic and hand over there money. Just tell them they are not going to get anything and they will leave.
This is a true story. Been to the dam many times including once when I drove there. I was getting a ticet from a pay and display meter in the Red light district and a guy pulls a knife on me saying "give me your money or I'll cut your belly". I say i havent any money on me, he says well whats that in your hand then, I say I need that for the pay and display ticket. He shrugs and says no worries and strolls off.
Had a knife pulled on me about 6 times there but just be cool and they are fine. Just be aware.

Lol ditto, I only seen the insides of the coffee shops when I was there for a week a few years back, its the main thing to go for.:rockon:

the last time I was there was for last new years eve.

We went on the 28th Dec and had a great time. Standing in the squares just chilling drinking a bottle of champagne with everyone setting off fireworks.

I am thinking of going back this new years :)

I was in Amsterdam working for 3 days last year

Went into Amsterdam both nights, didn't go in any coffee shops or the RLD though....

Jesus, you say there are tourist attractions in Amsterdam!! Next time lol.

I've been 4 times now over the years, we blasted through the tourist attractions, then left quickly as we were dying for a.. ahem beer...

The casino is fun when you have had a few beers, also I liked the Exact Choice coffee/bar down from the dam square.

My rating of them:

Anne Franks - bit boring and heavy unless youre really interested in it (there was people crying when we went in, we left quickly after that)
Brewery - not bad
Art Galleries - if you can be bothered
Sex museum - why not, the pictures are funny
Peep shows - always fun, especially when you can see your mate in the window opposite
Live Sex Show - was the best, so funny, full of japs tourists (families lol)

Hooters bar is fun.

As everyone says stay away from the dodgy guys, just ignore them, if you talk they become interested, stick to whats in the coffee shops.

And beware mushrooms, thats all im saying on that one...

Hawaian eh? Last time I have them in the dam, imagine this... sitting in a nice restaurant, your food arrives, your friends lips suddenly become massive like a cartoon, whats the craic "lips"? laugher ensues for what seems like forever... then the fun really begins, anyone for fear x laughter?
