i map my cars for 12afr up tp about 4500 then 11.5 afr till redline, i wouldnt ever want to see over 12.5 on boost!
ok guys i now understand that this map is very lean. when i take it back to mapper should i ask them to map it slightly richer? am a bit puzzled now

Who mapped it? Wallace are usualy ok, Matty mapped mine last year on td04 with good results and no problems but Russ@Performance HQ would also be well worth considering if you didnt want to go back to wallace

Had you an uprated fuel pump fitted? It could be the pump on its way out or a bad map sensor as well, but if that was the result from when it got mapped then its probably not.

I must admit that Toyo sports make cheap stuff, but pretty good one, not very reliable, but you get what you pay for. I have a Toyo intercooler and it's way better than a standard top mount and for £200 you can't complain, also it's the exact blitz copy!

Regarding the engine AFR - can someone upload the IDEAL AFR graph for our cars or point me to a link please???

Hello, just been made aware of this thread.
Without wanting to argue, or look unprofessional, this is not as clear cut as it may look.....and I'm quite disappointed in how the bandwagon rolls and in the OP as this is not a fair report of what occurred.

I'll post some more information tomorrow, well today.

Hello again,

Further to my post last night, here's the graph from the car as it left here just over a month after the first graph.

ronaldsharp1.jpg

The first graph, which is lean - no question - was when the car was first in for the Unichip. Fuel pump and bigger injectors were recommended and customer was advised to not drive the car on boost until the problem was resolved.

Once the car returned to us, the fueling was sorted but the engine had an issue - so a very safe. brief map was placed on the car so the customer could go to Crail.
Again, something we recommended against due to the engine issue.

I can, and will if need be, give a break down of exactly how the job went. Not to cause an argument with the customer, as that's the last thing we want - but mainly to ensure our reputation is not affected.

Thanks,
WP

I am very glad you have took the time to register for the site to answer questions raised over the graphs posted. The AFR shown in the graph after you tuned the car is a lot different from the graph posted in the first post and the advice you relayed to the customer in my opinion was sound and conclusive. I dont think a breakdown of the job is necessary in this thread, that is between you and your customer to work out.

I think its now up to baconfrys to leave a comment on the graphs he posted and also the way he portrayed the events leading up to his engine failure. Once his comments have been added I will lock up this thread so as nothing further online comments can be posted.

since this map i have changed to 330 injectors instead of standard and a uprated walbro 255 pump so once re-built should be better after a tweak on dyno

did u map it after fitting the 330cc injectors ? did u drive it with them fitted ?

u can hardly blame wallace p for ur engine letting go especially if it was piston number 3 ! how's to no the damage wasn't done prior to an aftermarket manifold being fitted ? and wasnt aparent till u tryed pushing power out of it

iv had loads of mapping done by matty he's a top guy (infact he mapped my 5e it mad 327bhp @ 1.5 bar and never missed a beat ! highly recommended

With the reputation Wallace Performance now have I didn't expect them to have left the car as it was in the original graphs or to not have at the least made comment to bacon that it wasn't particularly safe!

When people don't give the full story on a situation it really isn't helpful to any party involved!
