Jam Cast Manifold

I've has a few of these. They are not as badly restricted as a standard one but they are far from being an ideal manifold.Personally speaking I wouldn't fit one.

why wouldnt you fit one? i dont find it bad at all! better than a stainless one which is all thats really about atm

Clarify

I had a good drive in a GT with a standard mani. Then I fitted a Jam cast mani and covered the same route. There was absolutely no noticable difference at all.I then fitted a mild steel mani my nephew fabricated and over the same route the difference was very noticable.Unfortunately the time spent manufacturing the mild mani would lead to a selling price of around £450 so we only made the one and it's running every day with a td04 at 1 bar with no problems at all and no crack issues.
Please clarify Trevor? Not really many options for a Mild Steel manifold for a CT9

but you cant find a decent mild one much more easily than a jam one at the moment.

i have ported and polished my jam mani today at work anyway so maybe that would help a bit!?

They're able to make 200+hp from it, so it can't be that bad. I have mine and it works quite fine. I didn't expect the same performance from my Cruise s/s manifold, but that had 38mm runners and cracked. Once I start tuning I suspect the difference will make itself known.

do it wrong, do it twice, i guess

still its a rare piece, and it must be good if JAM make it to be honest, most of their stuff is spot on :)

nice buy

I'd rather pay twice the price for a manifold with a decent design!

what for the very minimal gain that might be had!?
like ive also said. there really arent any mild steel manis about unless someone happens to be selling one second hand.

I have had all three type cast, s/s, mild steel. The mild steel did crack eventually in under a year. It was properly braced and everything. The mild steel had smaller runners than the s/s and between it and the JAM I can feel no difference. So its not the manifold type that gives you the performance its the runner size, which I knew all along. I'd rather have the piece of mind with the JAM over the s/s or mild.
