me been a budgit diy guy i decided 2 try something out the other day... my car is completely stock running at standard boost.. with my high/low switch plumbed in i wasnt getting full boost on high (only 2 lights e.t.c, e.t.c) so i bypassed it... car was running at just under .6 of a bar then... just got an idea into my head the other day and tried it.. where the bracket for the standard actuator joins 2 the turbo i put 2 washers there, one for either bolt.. tightened up and took it for a spin.. with high/low switch bypassed i was gettin a steady .7 of a bar from 2nd gear up and with the high/switch plumbed in i was getting the boost i should of been getting with a stock 4efte setup..

note; if your goin 2 do this be aware that all 4efte's run differently and no 2 are alike and its only 2 be done with a "standard actuator".. ... just be carefull what thickness washers you use... if this gets a good response i will put up a tutorial with pictures about it as its so easy 2 do and ive tested it out the last few days with no problems..

:)

it seemed to work perfectly fine as far as i can recall. this was back in the mists of time when i first had the car but i cant remember it really making alot of difference tbh.

as said in first post all 4efte's are different and no 2 are alike... odd one cause i tried a smaller washers first and that even brought up the boost a bit.. in theory all im doin is doin what a hks actuator does really.. putting more tenson on the spring therefore more boost.. settled for .7 or a bar tho.. not goin any higher

i will agree it did make a small difference when you looked at the boost gauge but due to the weakness of the stock actuator it was never that great.

i could see this causing boost creep as the std actuator has limited travel as standard, but if its workin ok for you

This ain't nothing new buddy! People have done this before, way back when! :) Glad you're boosting properly though.

Nice innovation if it was fresh from your mind :)

A bit off topic, welcome Chris - hope you had a fab holiday :)

Yeah, good thinking if you just came up with it. But people have defo done it before.

PS. A month in America, a month in India - and now I'm back baby! Woooo.

just lucky ive a good standard actuator i suppose.. really feeling the difference tho and its boosting very steadly... just think its a good way for people that are having problems with their high/low switch and not boosting properly.. with it plumbed in im gettin boost at what it should be with this little fix

I have done this too with two washers.
The wastegate doesn`t open as much giving that little bit more boost:)
Obviosly not a good idea to put in too many washers lol
