Ok, so I recently put The Bitch back on the road and banged her round Llandow. She was spitting a little oil out of the rocker cover which I thought was down to the bolts not being done up quite tight enough, so I nipped them all up 1/4 turn once she'd got home and cooled down.

Anyway, she's been leaking oil out like the stuff wasn't wanted. It seems to be coming mostly from the turbo oil-feed pipe. I was hoping it had cracked, but I think now that the oil is being forced out of the gasket.

I did a compression test end of last week and the results aren't good. Before she had her headgasket and timing belt changed, she read 159, 157, 156, 159 (Cyl 1 to 4, in PSI). Now she's reading 120, 120, 118, 125. The variance across the 4 doesn't really suggest anything untoward, but they're all 40psi down on the previous reading. That combined with the oil pissing out from every orifice, the smokey rocker breather and significant blow-by out of the filler cap suggests to me that the piston rings are fucked.

My dilema is that it has always been my plan to put the car back on the road and sell her. I was going to sort her little niggles out, give her a damn good wash and polish, then put her up for sale for £3,250 and take offers (I'd be happy to get an optomistic near £3k for her). Trouble is, I'm not likely to get that sort of money for her in her current condition, which is where my dilema comes in.

Do I...

1) Flog her now with shot rings for whatever I can get for her (Probably £2.4-2.5k if I'm lucky)

2) Spend the money fixing her, which is likely to be a lot (New rings, big end bearings may as well be done whilst it's apart and new headgasket/headbolts again + labour) and put her up for sale as a faultless example for what I want to sell her for?

Keeping her is NOT an option.

Discuss. :(

I spose add up the costs of fixing it, parts + labour and see if its worth your while doing it say for example to fix it will push it past 3k and looking at it realisticly your gonna get 3.5k or what ever then isit worth your time and effort or should you just sell it as is? there is that, or put it up for sale with shot rings see if anyone's interested, if not then do the work i spose! depends how quickly you want to get rid of her i spose.

Ideally you want her gone in one foul swoop mate. No point dragging the saga out only to still be tripping over remains this time next year.

Advertise complete for spares and repair.

Failing that sell the aftermarket stuff and deduct that from your desired target price. This should lower the price of the car enough to give someone a bargain fixer-upper. Plus she might just live to fight another day too. ;)

Have u taugh about breaking her?
I've considered it, but I don't think there is much on there worth breaking for really. The FMIC and pipework, wheels and D2 coilovers would be worth the most money as individual items. I have an assortment of other mods on there including a Walboro pump, SARD RRFPR, lower arm bar, rear strut brace, part worn 3G 10 groove disks and Mintex 1144 pads, Burwash braided lines. The rest I don't think would be worth having. That and I really can't be arsed having bits of car laying around all over the place. I'd rather sell her as a whole.

Sooner rather than later TBH. I need the money out of her to get my arse sorted money wise as I want to be back in college come September and evening courses aren't cheap.

Ahh yeah makes total sence, i feel Jays solution is possibly the best solution in that case, sell the after market parts off and put car up for spares or repairs probably the quickest way to make your money back other than breaking it :(

Black Cobra Monaco's. Drivers one is fitted and has some wear to the one side from getting in an out. I still have the stock passenger seat fitted as I'd not got round to buying/making a rail for it.

is it insured haha
Of course. And no, I'm not torching it.

I deffo think doing p/x for stock stuff plus selling your aftermarket parts will be the best way, the market is poor atm.... :(

That's what I've been thinking, I've poured enough money into her over the last two years to buy another one, I've got to the point where I begrudge spending money I don't really have to.

This is the other thing I'm thinking of. There are hundreds of EP's on Pistonheads and the prices seem to vary wildly. Last time she was on there un-fucked she didn't get a huge amount of interesting save for some time wasters and a guy wanting a swap with an EG6 Civic TypewriteR (Which I considered but decided against).
