That's the loophole that a lot of guys used to (and some still do) take when insuring their Starlet GT. They simply insure it as a 1.3 without mentioning the turbo and act dumb to avoid a higher insurance premium.

The only problem is that this is voids the insurance cover and renders the policy useless. In the event of an accident you would be hung, drawn and quartered by the insurance company and the police. Speaking of which the PSNI are clued up on these cars now - they frequent this board occasionally.

It would be as though you were driving without insurance and you would face the same consequences that crime attracts.

There's one way to insure cars and that's honestly.

Hope that doesn't sound too harsh but I have to get the point across mate. Your ass could be locked up in jail depending on who you hit and how much damage you do to them.

Naw this wouldnt work either to be honest, im trying to find insurance myself for a Glanza in Northern or Southern Ireland but it doesnt seem to exist if your under 21.
The reason this wont work is due to the fact that the Glanza is a different class of car, when you are fully comp your entitled to drive another persons car who is insured on it but not if its noticeable faster than yours and in a different group of insurance.
I think its known as insurance fronting? Can anyone else illaberate on this?
Thanks Christy

Well to be honest if she said that then I would go for it. Actually I might do that myself :) especially if she is saying ok to a WRX you should be grand.haha. But your Glanza wont be covered in a crash it will only be 3rd party.

Yes I would personally put your mum's name down on the logbook as her insurance company will ask her this. The cops cant really say anything I dont think as long as you ahve the owners permission as in your mum.
Where in N.I you from also?

2 b honest lads not bein cheeky but if u cant insure the cars properly then u shouldnt drive them becos in the case of all these loopholes all sort of young boys r able 2 drive them an thats deadly.iam onli 20 wif 2 years ncb n. ireland and iam insured on a glanza wif adrian flux it costs 2100 but i find it worth it 2 b all above board.

i agree if you cant insure the car then theres no point in trying to insure it at all, because of you crash it will be you paying for it all. Thats also the main factor in my decision if it cant be insured as a 1.3 turbo i wont be getting a glanza

police are not too slow when it comes to gt's and glanzas..

they stopped me two weeks ago and one of them went to the front of the car and goes "hmmm front mount intercooler"..!

then he asked me what engine was in this car and i said 1.3..

he goes " just a 1.3?"

then i said 1.3 turbo!

he was thinking maybe i had it only insured as a 1.3 but he didnt even check afterall!
