you must be lucky mike or have some very good mesh. the amount of crap on bristol roads would see your turbo dead within a few months each time garanteed.

so come on cal give us more info on the exact problem. is there any difference in the readings on your gauge being a main factor.

fair play to you all that are not running a filter

Personally though,, no airfilter means no filtered air, which means that any dirt near it will get sucked up. Even though the mesh will filter some crap..the smaller particals will get inwhich could do damage in the long run..and we all know what happens if the mesh gets sucked in!.

Again just my 2p...I personally like to keep an air filter on..then i know the turbo is getting looked after

defo sounds to me that your clutch is starting to slip imo.

it only does it in higher gears, and possibly the extra boost is giving u that bit more of a power advance to kick it in the nuts that extra bit it needs.

you wont necessarily(sp) smell it either if its only doing it slightly, and thats why you arent feeling it so bad either. i no when my clutch started to slip it wasnt hugely noticable to start with especially with the revs flying up neway.

but i bet you the more and more you rag it the worse itll get over time!

keep us posted cal but im 99% on that, cant see it as a boost related problem as it would do it threwout all the gears not just 3rd and 4th etc

My clutch slips like mad when I boot it becuase I'm running a bar on the standard clutch, and I can't smell the friction plate burning, but it's deffo slipping. basically it revs and doesn't put the power down (can't wait to get my TRD one fitted) :)

My mates GT had the same problem, and I changed the clutch for him, problem solved.

My clutch bites so high I have to open the door to let it out. :p

I have too agree with a some and say that I'm pretty sure yours is slipping mate.

lol guys went out in it just...i added another layer of mesh on the turbo and omg it pulls so hard and non of this slip rubbish lol...sounds ACE still but has no creep...plus last night was colder and now my boost gauge is more accurate....btw its an exedy clutch and is 12 months old

put it in 5th at about 50mph and clutch it too see if it slips u will know if your clutch is not up to the job ! bit rough but its a good way to test it

I live in Wales, the land of cold weather, sheep shit and rain. Not had any issues thus far. I'm using frying pan splatter guard mesh as recommended by Kelly. :)

So am I, but I don't get any slipping. That said, I don't abuse the clutch or let it start slipping, so that probably helps.

Another layer of mesh and it pulls harder? Nah, that aint likely. More than likely the colder night air (Which is more dense) has a contributing factor.

Cal, answer the question I have asked two times. On WOT, what boost are you seeing on the gauge and does it change at all? I'm not interested in what clutch you have fitted as I personally think it isn't the clutch at fault. You said it pulls harder now you've added the extra mesh. Surely if that were the case, the clutch would slip even more?

Something isn't adding up here.

So 4th and 5th gears are the gears to find out if the clutch is slipping?
Shit think mine is on its way, cos 1st 2nd and 3rd pulls ok, until i drop the speed on 4th or 5th about 50 60mph, and put my feet down, all i can hear is the rev going up but doesnt pick up speed. Am i right?

Fuck sake.

Cal, you're treading on thin ice as it is with your incessant spamming and general dribble, then you go and waste everyone's time with a bollocks topic about some fictional fault on a car that you can't drive and probably don't even have? Jesus H. Christ.

You just lost what little respect you may have and I'm sure I speak for the majority of people here when I say that I won't be helping you out with a fault in future, genuine or not.
