Is it that critical?

It bottoms out in the hole, so less is better I know so the sensor end is not damaged.

Before I have used thread lock and nipped it up lightly, after making sure it was getting to the bottom of the hole.

Please put me right if I am wrong on this, sometimes torque settings are to prevent you overtightening and stripping threads or squashing parts to tightly together, not allowing for expansion.

I've looked through what I have on file and I can't see a specific torque setting on it. That's not to say it doesn't exist though.

i found the torque settings from 5e-fe service manual.
torque:45 N.m (33 ft-lbf)
And yes i bellieve that for the knock sensor its critical cause it is a piezoelectric sensor.
