@wesgt, yeah he'll let himself out when he needs to do his business and shut the door behind him. (He's a border collie) I'd had him home for 30 minutes he was 6 weeks old and I'd taught him to sit give me his paw, and just by saying "other one" hed take that paw back and give me his other one.

Very very clever dog!

What an absolute class dog, I love Huskies, they look awesome. Didn't know what a Malamute was, they are huge, I'd probably still get a Husky out of the two though, nice choice.

I got so fed up of having to let him out in the winter in the rain and cold I thought why not teach him to do it, then I can sit infront of the fire and not get cold lol

i had taught of a malamute but i always wanted a husky, the huskys are more work tho,you could let a malamute of the lead around the house and it wouldnt run away, the huskys on the other hand if she gets off she'l run for miles without stoping :O,and wont come back even if called,a very stuborn dog!!im finding it hard to put manners on this thing!lol

the akita's are viscous are they not?

yeh supposedely akitas are. theres a forest near me where i walk my dogs, people often stop me to comment on the dogs, 2 labs together always gets attention lol but i've been told by several different people of a lad that walks an akita in the woods, its gone for people and attacked other dogs also

very sad indeed but its hard to explain to people who have never had a dog just how attached you become to them, they really are like another member of the family.

I remember having to get the vet to see my german shep off a few years back. My family was away on holidays and the dog was really old and she took a turn for the worse and couldnt get up off the ground and was in pain and I had to get the vet and then sit with her as she drifted off... not a nice experience at all.

been there 2 dylan.. "toby" the jack russell in the other thread got hit by a car and the car didnt stop.. when i got to him i knew he was on the way out and just before he did he licked my hand and off he went..his last breath and in serious pain he still took the time to show me how much he respected me..its as if he was telling me that its ok.. i will take that image to my grave.....:( and your dead right.. people that never had pets would never understand..

p.s. sorry for the soppyness
