RR Day

I really enjoyed the day.Good to see a great turnout.There was some really surprising results.Imagine a rolling road on my doorstep owned and run by two spot on lads and I never knew it was there.I'll be a regular visitor there from now on.Paintballing ? I don't think my tired sore old body could manage it.Karting you bet as long as you lot are willing to lift me out of the kart when it's finished.Wonder if they'd mind me putting a cushion on the seat, then again that would add extra weight.Congratulations and a mighty big THANK YOU to Leanne and Alan for all the hard work and effort they put into organising the day.Good to see that Chris almost knocked Jay off his perch in being the dirtiest.You'll get him next time Chris after all he did win some carwash and it would be unpolite for him not to use it on the car.I bet the bugger uses it in the shower.

Where do you take the figures from? The figures quoted on the printouts and on the screen as the run is been done is that ATF?? I had my car done there a while back and still not sure;

indeed sir the fly figures are the ones printed along the top, but the wheel ones are the ones in green, you have to guess them based on where they lie on the graph. Ill get mine emailed over in pdf and show you what they are

The graph that registers onscreen when the car is on the rollers shows the power at the wheels Noel. It is from this that the flywheel power is then calculated. The transmission soaks up some of the power so you add a % onto the wheel figure to obtain the flywheel figure.

"Converting wheel bhp to flywheel bhp and vice versa

To reflect the fact that % losses are high for low powered cars and vice versa you can use the following equations which have been found to correlate well with real world transmission losses.

FWD cars - add 10 bhp to the wheel figure and divide the result by 0.9
RWD cars - add 10 bhp to the wheel figure and divide the result by 0.88
4WD cars - add 10 bhp to the wheel figure and divide the result by 0.84

To estimate the expected wheel bhp from a known flywheel bhp just reverse the equations

FWD - multiply flywheel power by 0.9 and then deduct a further 10 bhp
RWD - multiply flywheel power by 0.88 and then deduct a further 10 bhp
4WD - multiply flywheel power by 0.84 and then deduct a further 10 bhp

Remember, these percentages are not "gospel" - they are good realistic averages."

of course folks... I quickly discovered the limits of my system, so went and invested in another 2Gb ram, and Terrabyte of HD... Editing will no doubt resume tomorrow night - and videos to follow!
