No heating, Tried flushing matrix but only minimal water comes out other pipe

Only have cold air blowing,
Replaced thermostat but no joy
Just flushed through the heater matrix pipes but most of it just splashed back and only a small amount was running out of other pipe...

Does this mean replacing the matrix?
or is there another way around having to remove the dash...

Sounds like the matrix core might be clogged up with crap mate. You can confirm this by getting a paw onto it when the engine is at full operating temp - if the core is cooler than the coolant then it's not circulating.

Most effective way of sorting it is to replace the core but flushing and reverse flushing it repeatedly with hot water can break down some of the blockage. You could also run some cleaning fluid through the system too but this would take a while to have an effect. I've heard of people sticking some dishwasher tablets in the system but I've never tried that myself.
