I bought my 3rd starlet at the weekend and when i put my foot down in 3rd gear upwards it gets too about 4000 revs and engine light comes on and engine cut out seems to kick in and i have to change gear. never been a problem with my old ones you could red line it but this ones different the boost gauge was reading 0.4 bar but that was when but i realised the car was losing air through the dump valve so have taken it off seems to be better but still got the engine light problem car is running at 0.8 bar ish now.the car has had an engine rebuild could there have been something wired wrong when this was done?

am gena get ableed valve so i can fiddle with boost but not sure wot else it cud be.
alsoforgot too add the high low boost does not seemto work could some one maybe buta pic on her so i can see how to re connect mine as this could be the problem

Yeah mate sounds like fuel cut to me mate, you need to lower the boost, are you running any sort of boost controller atm? if so turn it down and if not then sounds like your suffering from some boost creep.

If you would like some more advice and help please drop me a PM and i can help you out.

Many Thanks

Yeah exactly what Nick said, can you tell us what the preset boost level is and what target do you actually see. Reducing boost could cure it as you may simply be running too near to fcut. If your running stockish boost then you need to ascertain why it's creeping. A Bleed valve won't allow reduction in boost.

It's getting quite cold now which can attribute to creep especially on long open roads, quite common as winter dawns. If your getting it in 3rd gear above 4k then this is should pretty much be the problem.

The boost creep article makes an interesting read. Can you list all the mods you are running when you get a mo as it;s helpful for others to read if they have the same issue. Once we know what you have we can ascertain what the problem could be (i.e relocated filter, large diameter exhaust, leak etc etc)

it has not got many mods hks induction kit relocated behind front grill has an exhaust not sure what type thats about it. i put my foot down and gauge reads 0.5 until higher revs then it goes up to about 0.8 in myoldstarlet the boost gauges both went straight up too full boost as soon as i put my foot down really. will read aboutboost creep.do you think this could be the high low thing being by passed?

Replied to your PM mate, but to give a quick fix mate get hold of a stock intake system (Known as the EFI pipe) and fit that, that should make the turbo find it harder to get air in which should stop the boost creep for now, but the final fix is either getting a external wastegate setup fitted or porting the wastegate is the cheaper option but we advise the external wastegate setup as sacha at wicked ep does a fantastic kit!

And we can supply you with the parts needed if required.

More than happy to talk further about this
