god knows Dan i need to get it down to Matt to let him have a look and see what he can do. Thing is tho Dan with the money we spend on our engines ect and then we go and buy a piggy back units we should spend out on standard loan management system and get the best from our cars. TDI had a big chat to me and KrissyB about it. way i look at it what would you rather blow your engine up and he will cost you 1500+ to rebuild or spend 1500 and get a good management system which will hopfully save your engine and get a better range of mappping.

Thanks to Dan EP82 tho he adjusted my map and put a bit more fuel in with TDI advising us.

yeah i see where your coming from abz, but end of the day they are running a business so they want your ££££.. so theyre ganna try sell you ££££'s of stand alone. obviously stand alone would allow for better tuning, but if the piggyback is doing the job i personally dont see any reason to spend over a grand on stand alone. i ran unichips on my old gti-r's and they were running in the 400's. depends how far you wanna go really. :) you've had a few running probs with that emanage though havent ya?

yes mate first one i had was faulty and got replaced under warranty. but the one in my car now touch wood as not caused a problem well we hope not lol!
I think any one would love to have 1500+ to go and buy a motec.
we will see tho not going to jump in to nothink get my new inlet fitted and get down to matt at AFR tuning.

but dan with going from a starlet to that you want 450bhp+ to have the same amount as fun which we do with the starlets. I keep saying i wana change and get somthink different but cant sell up or bring my self to strip it.
so the red beast will stay and be finished and get sorted :)

thats very true but the sideways action should make up for that ;) the other thing that puts me off is i dont fancy forking out to rebuild and forge an RB lump any time soon ££££ so the starlet will be staying lol

sideways action lol

everybody says the same thing RWD fun....... Its like everyone is exactly the same.

Ive hamered a few RWD cars "getting them sideways" and yeah its fun, but i would much rather have a competative car that can go fast weather it be for dragging or track work.

Drifting is not for me. I would want a RWD for the fact of the way it handles not the fact you can go sidways lol...... Cars were not built to go sideways, otherwise all these high powered supercars wouldnt be set up to go as fast as possible in everyway. Never heard of a manufacturer meantioning how well you can drift? LOL

Whatever floats your boat i guess, i personally cannot see the super dooper fun in the back end coming round? Or more to the point i certainly wouldnt buy a RWD for the lack of grip. I would want it TO grip well and not oversteer too much.

Must be just me.

Keep the red beast it is quick, reliable, and in my opinion one of the nicest Jap cars around. To get an R32 to the same spec and even near that sort of cleanliness of Abbotts and a select few on this forum (AZE, GAZ, etc etc, you are going to have to spend huge £££££££££'s.

Then how are you going to work on an R32 and what if it goes wrong its an even bigger money pit.

Its proven that most guys on here that upgrade to EVO's , Scoobs, Skylines etc always go back to the Starlet.

Also when you can pull hard on a Noble in a 1.3 why sell lol.

I enjoy being the Under dog as you hav nothing to lose.;)

worked it out at average of 20% trans loss, works out 285bhp at the fly so not alot between the dyno figures you previously got. good stuff son :)

Can hardly compare the figures at EA compared to the recent Dyno.

He made 219@wheels at EA and 290@fly .. thats a 32% drivetrain loss

Now has 238@wheels and 285@fly .. thats with 20% which is much more accurate.

Hence why everyone said EA were very optimystic with there fly calculation.

Anyway, very good result abbott, you must be chuffed :)

youd be suprised at how much fun youd have with just 300bhp matey.

yeah as 2.0 dan said you just cant beat the felling of doing stupid speeds round corners and coming out the other end, drifting is a completely different type of driving/people,
you will never be able to sell the starlet and buy anything close that will give you the buzz of a 300 bhp starlet at the same cost or close

some quality pics there krissy, the one with abbott with his arse out is no surprise, esp at TDI:haha::haha:

io've been saying that engine advantages were rubbish for ages, but no one will listen.

anyhoo, rather than pay TDI's extortianat rates, you could try www.redlinetuning.co.uk he maps emerald and haltec standalone engine management systems, and the emerald is a pretty cheap system for a standalone, it's worth giving him a ring for a chat.

he's never done a starlet though but that shouldnt matter to much,

also maps unichips ;) and all other piggyback systems
