you can really stop it, i just knock the mechanism that pulls the cable on the rear of the caliper and away i go, it doesnt go away if you drive so dont be an idiot. if you leave it in gear and just do two clicks that should be fine, thats what i do. morning comes and i just release the handbrake and engage it full and release and engage it and it doesnt stick

Mine has happened 3 times since the weekend. Try to put in gear but forget sometimes.

The other day i drove it round the block to warm the brakes up (can just about drive as my handbrakes shit anyway) and i got back to my house, got out, looked at the passenger side rear disk, and was glowing red like a red hot manifold!! lol. Whoops.

Going to order up some handbrake cables as mine need changing anyway as they feel knackered and have to lift the handbrake to the roof for it to stand stationary... :homer:

How hard is it to change the hand break cable? How much do they cost to replace?

Well on Toytuning the cables are £52 each  and you need two !
But i think toyota do them cheaper. Im not going to attempt this myself as ill probably fuk something up, gonna be a mechanic jobby for me :)

The ice has melted and now the temps are bit warmer. Do you think the brakes would have unsead by now? Been 2days parked up.

Get up in the morning fill the kettle, boil it, have a cuppa with your brekkie, then take the kettle outside and pour the remains of the boiling water on the rear brakes :)

i had this problem this morn. not been the only time i have had this problem about 4 times since having the Glanza, its well annoying especially when you gota be somewhere lol tried the boiling water trick did the job so was all good.

did this too works a treat!!!

Not quite sure if mine is the doing this or not, but was driving home last night from work, got out the car, smelt a bad rusty burning smell, the smell was coming from the rear arch passenger side. My brake warning light has been coming on everytime i brake hard for a few weeks now, but finally got it booked in for tuesday to get it checked.

I don't know what I am missing here, but I have tried to park the car, handbrake off and in gear, but the car still rolls?

I am parked on a slight hill thou...

As Dave said it will roll a tiny bit then lock solid.

Its the best solution if you rear brake keeps freezing on and better that risking breaking them and replacing the whole lot.

It always depends on the age of the calipers, cables etc but mine since replacing the whole rear brakes have been fine...so far :)

Sounds like you're all having problems with different parts of the cable. Some inside the sheath next to the exhaust and some at the caliper end. If the cables are getting wet inside the sheath then the cables will be rusty. When the moisture freezes the course rusty cables will struggle to pull through the ice.

Take them off dry them and get them greased up. New cables would probably best for most of them by the sound of it. Grease new cables too.

Hot water is never gonna cure it long term and getting under the car in you're Sunday best is never a good idea.

Driving straight now Lanxter ;)
