Heres one I took as a parting shot (get it? lol) on the day...

Many thanks to Joz and Jay for entrusting me with the car! it was great to be a part of the team!

Jay had the car meticulously clean upon my arrival, which enabled me to get straight to work with a quick claying (Bilt Hamber laboratories Autoclay) where needed. Next I prepped my Porter Cable machine polisher with Sonus DAS plat, and Sonus Swirlbuster pad, wetted with Klasse A-I-O sealant glaze, used to keep the Meguiars ultimate compound wet, and the temps down.

The car was cleaned off with clean terry towelling, and then hand waxed.
I initially tried my Swissvax Best of show, on the bonnet, but found the cure times were far too slow (I have a 3KW convector heater in my garage) so swapped out to Collinites Concours De Elegance wax, again applied by hand - no pads. This was allowed to cure before being buffed to a glaze with more terry towelling, and a 2nd coat applied to the roof and bonnet.

Wee John was on suicide watch for a week or so due to some wiring difficulties but the boy did good in the sparks dept keeping me right with various mechanical areas too. A true gent for not quitting lol.

Yes indeed lol!!

You would think Toyota UK and Toyota Japan would talk to each other a bit. The UK spec loom uses a wire colour for one of the power sources nearly exactly the same as the Jap loom uses for an earth. I made a wrong connection that resulted in a fuse blowing as soon as the ignition was switched to the second turn.

The UK spec also uses the same wire colour for the starter wire as the Jap spec uses for a power source, I connected the injector power source to the starter wire so the car would only run when the ignition was at start. That one was a bit harder to find!!

As a wise man once said, "its only a ballox if it cant be fixed". Got it sorted and the car ran sweet.

Jay did a 1st class job on this one, the photos dont really do the engine bay justice, it looks great. Thanks to Jay and Joz for their patience, the car would have been running earlier if I had paid a bit more attention doing the loom before fitting it so my apologies for that.

Cheers for all the kind comments lads.

Just want to say a BIG thanks to all especially Jay for making all of this possible. Your time and efforts are much appreciated and I'm over the moon with the result.

The car's potential was being wasted and after spending so much on her in the past I nearly gave up. This has given me renewed hope and the EP bug has bitten me once again.

Its a fresh start for me so all advice along the way will be greatly appreciated. I'm here for the EP long haul

Will be seeing her in the flesh on Monday, can hardly wait!
The running in of the new engine continues.

Cheers lads this one has hopefully been worth the wait. I promise Joz will enjoy the turbo path - he didn't want to stop driving that little green GT. :drive:

Speaking of which, thanks to Steve we managed to save the ultra rare coloured EP from the crusher. Adam from Ballymena had a small prang in his quadlamp and used the green shell as a perfect donor. Another one saved.

looking forward to the next one :)

After all the cleaning involved the next one is going to be a 'dirty' build. I will be choosing only the rustiest and most oil stained parts I can find.. ;)

Thanks everyone,

Jay

lol Dan, I used as follows:

Bilt Hamber Autoclay:

Porter Cable 7424 Machine polisher (your as well buying meguiars own UK one these days)
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polis...220-dual-action-polishing-machine/cat_70.html

sonus DAS plate and pads:

Megs Ultimate compound:

Klasse All in one
http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/klasse-all-in-one-polish-and-sealant-500ml.php

Collinite 915 Concours wax
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-915-marque-d-39-elegance/prod_281.html

and initially Swissvax best of show:
http://www.swissvax.co.uk/products/wax-products.asp (Best of show £145)

I carry a huge range of swissvax, collinite, Victoriawax, Chemical Guys, Megs, Autoglym, Bilt Hamber, Menzerna, Sonus, Poorboys, Zymol, and Klasse products, but I select them individually per car based on what I think it needs and drawing from past experience of what works well.

FAO: Joz

I highly recommend buying some collinite, and keeping a good layer on the car to prevent any future decay in quality of the finish - the more on there the more protection there is!
If you have the budget and a nice warm garage to work in, get some Swissvax Samurai instead - its designed for JIC3/JIC4 multilayer Jap paint work and will offer the best results for little dollar!
