its to hard to say i think, of course as people have said, you have to be able to drive.. depends of prep of the track, what tyres, the launch, spot on gear changes, alot to add up to a good run IMO,

you didnt do that bad:)

i did 13.5 @1.4bar in the wet with road tyres and half a tank of petrol, will be hoping for a 13 flat on my next outing

what terminal speed was that at?

thats what i was thinking too, but to give an accurate answer there are way to many other variables to take into account, including the track & weather conditions that day...

kon

yea exactly weather track condition and temp. etc etc all come into it. its now way near as easy as people make it out to be to put a good time together.
with a half well dial in set up with that particular power level 13.5 is acheivable and faster if you spent some serious time setting things up properly and had heeps of seat time to nail the launch rpm clutch drop timing, shift points, etc etc

its to hard to say i think, of course as people have said, you have to be able to drive.. depends of prep of the track, what tyres, the launch, spot on gear changes, alot to add up to a good run IMO,

agreed as above.

i dont get it like. if am passin the line at a faster speed then technicaly i should of had a better time.. it makes sense kinda ............

unfortunately it doesnt work that way no matter how much we all would like it to.

basically the speed your car can do over a 400m stretch of tarmac isnt represented by the time it takes to get there.
If you have a poor launch or wheel spin you cover ground more slowly but your speed will often be the same or a bit slower than a run where you get traction and actually make ground faster as the car is covering that ground faster.

things that effect times but not speed:

slow launch
wheel spin
slow gear changes
slow reactions - getting ready to change gear etc
wind/drag

to reduce the lift at the front fit a whiteline anti lift kit and castor kit

fit good suspension ideally coilovers ...set them up high at the back and low
front again to help reduce weight transfer to the back *reducing lift*

one step further is to fit big wheel at the back and small at the front

x2. Good post Faisal.

i have a anti-lift kit already, the back is set higher than the front. but the rear shocks arent working. just sinks at the back n obv lifts, what about tyre pressure, what kinda pressure would be good for the front and rear?? info please :) also got another question, do u need to use a boost controller when the car has been mapped at a certain boost??? also can u use bigger wheels on the back n small ones on the front as a day to day thing??

ok m8 in terms of tyres lower pressure in front to grip (not too low)
and high in the rear tyres cos u want them to roll...

and NO do not do this and drive the car every day...

another trick to keep the lift to a minimum is extra bumps stop in the rear suspension (i am not sure how its done) do a search!!

if the car is mapped at certain boost level u dont need a boost controller
but a boost controller is handy to adjust boost if u have multiple maps stored on engine management system (ecu)

people have a mis interperration wh=ith air presure exspecially unexperienced people all i can say is you have to remember the lower the psi better traction faster aceleration, but remember this will slow you down at top end performance which is vital on a lil 1.3 engine.......make sure you get the psi right matey

the above is a great point.

from experience street rubber/tyres re no good under 18psi. if you go any further than that you will have an adverse effect and you will have worse traction.

with drag radials i find on my hoosiers that 10-12psi works the best.

semi slicks i would run between 14 and 18psi

the above is just a guide and you need to adjust the pressures to suit your particular rubber compound side wall construction type etc etc

cheers

just got myself 2 14s for the front and four slick racing tyres for them. two as spare obv. that should help a wee bit. now for that bhp figure. ive got that tdo4h turbo from the gsr, anyone know the figures (bhp wise) it could goto, i want it safe tho. not blowin hot air, lol.

If your wanting a Good boost controller why not look for an Apexi Avcr as it would allow you to run a lower boost in 1 gear say 0.6-7 Bar then when in second have it at maybe 1 bar, then 1.2-1.3 for the rest of the gears, would help with the traction, especially if you have a heavy foot :haha:

Wouldn't it be better to have bigger wheels at the front for traction and smaller wheels at the back for less drag?

no not really because the main concern is the lift fwd drive cars get...
u want to reduce the flex so the whole front tyres are touching the ground

but u can take this a step further (like i will be) run slicks and still front low rear high suspension ....

1)it maintains the weight over the front wheels, which means they will aid traction...
2) a lower front end will also aid aero dynamics a little the air pushes the car down

check on you tube etc powerful fwd cars are set up like this for drag racing there will be set up guide some where..
