Hi All GT Guru's,

I am new. My GT gives a rattling(tac..tac..tac) noise when sudden hard accelaration...lets say a standing start..comming under from bonnet..Normal accelaration it doesnt come out.

Is this normal in GT's or is it something wrong?

Pls advice.

thank you
Chinth

does the car have any mods? i.e. the boost turned up, it might be detonation! have it checked out before you boot it again.

if it was a damaged engine it would do it whatever happens, not just hard acceleration.

i would say exhaust manifold / a fualty gasket somewhere

yeah it can be big ends, shows up under load ie acceleration, its usually more of a knock than a rattle

Yes..it that sound I have not checked it under idle reving though..its very very close but not that loud i dont think it comes under idle revving..Where is this bid end bearing..? Also can it be timing? As another expert sudgested! I can surely say hitting hard on accelration in boost meter half way.

The big end bearings shells for the crank, new engine required or bottom end rebuild, eg new shells, oil pump, crank grind.

Take the rocker cover off and check for any loose bits.

You have Damaged crank shaft bearing bearing, also the crankshaft could be damaged too...my godbrother had the same problem after going around a track the oil went low and bearing got damaged and if he pass 3k rpm u would hear a knowing sound he had the change the crack and bearing so he just decided to go 5efte and be away with the 4efte

Guys how can u draw so many horrific & post armageddon situations, when all the guy has said is hes got a ticking sound?

for all he knows he may be hearing the idle valve lol.. suggest that before drawing any stressful conclusions u try & upload a vid for us of the sound.. that way it should be simpler to identify what the case is..

Fcked wasnt the word, the knocking was louder than my cv joint (which i fixed evetutaly).
It just turned out of the blue. driving down the dual carriage and herd it slighly. mines completey standard, sum ppl say after you stuck the upgraded actuator mah have caused the stress.
I had the new bearings changed and oil pump inspected, few days later. the sound back. so a new engine for me on my list. :(

my crank and big end went on my glanza and it only made a slight rattle on start up and when i blipped the accelerator

take it to a specialist for a diagnostic
