Rear Brake Disc Difference

Had the opportunity so thought I'd take a few decent pics of the ABS rear disc (on the left) versus the non-ABS rear disc (on the right). The only difference is the ABS ring which is pressed on the rear of the disc. This means you can use ABS discs on a non-ABS car but not the other way round.

As you can see they are identical from the front:

You can see the difference on the back:

Compared to the non-ABS version:

Now theoretically you can swap the ABS ring across to the non-ABS discs but in practice this can be a tad frustrating if you don't have the right tools:

And heat doesn't help either:

Seeing as Blueprint discs come without the ABS rings I'd avoid those and just go straight to Toyota. The part numbers are in the pics.

Hope this helps someone,

you can purchase ABS rings new online. might be a cheaper option if one could be matched up then fitted to aftermarket discs if you damage the originals on removal.

what heat did you use to remove the ones in the pics? the fires of hell?

Getting the rings off isn't too much of an ordeal, it's pressing them on to the new disc that's the tricky bit. Tried heating them with the flame thrower but results are hilarious (as above). Without heat they break, with heat they stretch in the wrong places. Would need a press no doubt but for the price and fucking about involved just go to Toyota and buy the right bloody discs.
