reflective heat wrap.........

Ive looked into the physics of this before in a lot of depth and the air flowing so quickly and under pressure through the intercooler piping is only going to be VERY minimally effected by the temperature of the piping so it isnt realy important.

That heat reflective tape on a roll is shit I had some before and it was rubbish. If your going to do it manifold heat wrap would be the best way forward. :).

But dave the manifold heat wrap "insulates the heat in stopping it from secaping around the engine bay, i dont want to hold heat in the IC pipe i want to reflect it keeping the heat away making it as cool as possible... the pipes get soo hot when im driving it hard.....

Yes but the temperature of the ic pipe isnt going to heat up the air flowing through the pipework enough to matter even if the pipe feels warm.

With heat wrap it either keeps heat in or out, which ever way you look at it for example a flask will keep tea hot or a drink with ice in cold.

Manifold heat wrap would be the best bet imo if your going to do it. That heat reflective tape isnt worth bothering with.

The manifold wrap is designed to insulate heat whether it is keeping heat in or keeping it out. It is made to stop heat passing through it so if it stops heat escaping from the manifold it is keeping the heat in and if it is on the ic piping it is keeping heat out. :)

ps have you thought of rigging an intercooler spray up? I made one for mine the other day piece of piss from old washer jets pump and bottle ive got a spray on my radiator too now!:p

as for the water spray, yeah i have thought about it, was gona go for a a proper water injection kit when/IF i increased power.....

when you got time mate, in your own time no rush could you maybe set up a "clear" tutorial of how you rigged it up with pics.......... any time you like though yeah........?

I've dealt with em once and they delivered promptly... With exhaust wrap you normally need to wrap around so it double wraps if you understand so measure diameter of your pipe length and then double it to be safe I used 50mm on mine but yours is a straight pipe length wise. 10 meters did my inlet across turbo and decat downpipe. Hope this helps... You going to trax cos I really will go if you running that beast???

thanks alot mate for the info, ive just ordered 15 meters with 10 stainless steel cable ties... im gona get carried away with that wrap i know it lol...........

im gona be at trax but im not gona be running on the track just yet, i want my wheels on and a couple of chassis mods before, and make sure coolin is fine as it likes to get very hot quickly, maybe even an oil cooler...... although i might be tempted to have a couple of 0-60mph runs out of curiousity.. wouldnt minda legit time......

15 metres should be plenty mate.

Ill knock a tutorial up on the intercooler spray as soon as I can, its so easy and virtually free to do it may be good in the meantime.

Let us know how you get on with the heat wrap mate.
