Thats 200 quid I didn't want to spend! If I can rent one out then I will. After using it to lift out my engine and back in I don't need to use it again (well I hope not!)

you main dog aidan...lol just buy 1 your loaded anyway:haha: am sure it will come in handy again..

alot of garages put the engine on a stand and lower the car on to it ...

i used a tractor with a loader on it and lifted it in from the bottem worked a treat might be worth pulling it out for 10mins to do the lift mate then pushing it back in .....

Ive one it with an engine crane (the best way), a tractor with prongs and a rope(2nd easiest) and then a combination of 4 jacks.

I take the engine and box out as one when i do it,much easier.

When i didnt have the crane or a low loader i put a trolley (anything flat with wheels) just underneath th engine then drop the front of the car right down(losen the bottom bolts on the left mount and rear gearbox mount first;) ) until it sits on the trolley.
Undo the front gearbox and left engine mount and lean it forward, then take out the back bolt. Then just jack the car up and pull the engine out:)

About €20 a day too;)
I done a few without a crane, its a pain in the hole, with the crane you'd have it out in 45mins,without your talking a little over an hour.

Take gary's offer, not often he gives anything free:p:p

well well where have u been hiding???

i was also thinking of doing this but may be able to borrow a crane ..is there a sticky on engine removal?? i hope to god there is i could really do with it...

It can be done but a lot more work ive done it myself. Take the box off then take the head off then lift the block out was the way i did it. I had to take the head off for i could lift it and the block out by myself, made it a bit lighter for me to get it out. Now have a crane now, so much easier!

Hire one or buy one it will soon pay for itself.
