rx7 intercooler

He means because of their size and the way they sit on top of the engine (different to the stock one) the scoop isn't directing air to all of the cooler.

Who cares, I've bought one 'cos people have nothing but good things to say bout 'em! :D

The rubber insert underneath the vent can be modified to cover the majority of the cooler.

As with regards to position they sit when I took mine on and off in the past it always sat almost square and my mates sits straight too I dont know how people get them so bonky?:)

For the money they are a good upgrade and well worth the little cash they cost.

I shall make mine as efficient as possible, already thinking up ways of ensuring the rubber cowling bit sits flush and square on the intercooler! Cannae wait for it to arrive :D

Its easily done mate, the coolers are much more efficent than the standard ones if you give your car a blasting with the standard cooler on then run out and feel the end of the cooler where it enters the TB it will feel warmish, if you do it with the rx7 one it feels much cooler tried and tested last weekend on my mates GT.

Heres my old one

No dump valve eh? :p

Looks nice mate, can't wait to get it. That engine bay will look very similar to mine! Is the 90deg samco bend 51-45mm reducer correct? 'Cos thats what I have bought.

i notice there's no BOV? how much boost wuz he running on? and for how long before the turbine gave up (if it did)

here's the standard intercoolers you can get on the market, compared.
it's from autospeed, btw. pic is tad long, but worth a look, i reckon?

Thats a nice bit of information there, I was running 1 bar on that setup with no bov for about 7 months without a problem.

I then changed to hybrid turbo, fmic, greddy E-Manage and 1.2 bar of boost I ran the first 3 months without a bov but now I have fitted one but only because I like the sound of it.

ever looked at the vent when an rx 7 one is fitted?

standard airflow can get to all of the cooler,
but fit an rx7 one and it starts about 1/2 2/3's way up, so airflow is reduced.

thats rubbish, it lines up just fine with the vent and it doesnt take much to figure out how to dierct the air! mine deals with 1bar just fine, it feels very cold, even after a hard drive.

i will post a picture up my vent tomorrow (didnt mean for that to sound so gay)

Right I want to buy a rx7 tmic is it the series 4 or the series 5 one that is the best? And will it fit straight on with the samco hose? Also will it rub on the rubber insert underneath the scoop? Cheers Dean.

ok its a rubbish picture. but it gives an idea of how it lines up with the vent.
all i have done is put a peice of foam (you know, the stuff that plumbers put on copper pipes to insulate them) so the air goes in the vent an straight through the core.

ok its not perfect but it has no problem whatsoever with 1 bar.

no problem with 1 bar? damn, if i run about half a mile flat out at 1 bar the cooler is alot hotter than i would like on the cold side, its still pretty efficient as the hot side is fucking hot, cant put your hand on it for long!
