sae 90 vs 75-90

Hi boys,

Just a quick question, this week i needed a specified gbox oil for my trd helical lsd.. so i went to my local silcolene dealer & i was faced with a question ( in the end i bought the 75w-90 fully synth race spec oil) but he also offered me a sae 90 race oil.. which from what i can understand is usually used in clutch type diffs.. (according to him)

now my dilemma lies here, would i have been better off using a straight 90 or the 75-90 as i chose?

my ep is mainly a daily driver (enounters quite a bit of traffic) & used as a weekend drag toy..(every weekend) weather in malta rarely goes below 10deg celcius.. most of the time its over 20deg..

so what do u think, perhaps u could elaborate on the differences ;)

Was it for the fron or rear diff? Either way the synthetic (assuming its the Syn5 75w-90) will be ideal.

Ok, the SAE90 would be called the BOA90ls and this is no good for the gearbox, its a dedicated diff oil so think rear wheel drive cars. The Syn5 75w-90 is essentially a gear oil with a few bits and pieces that make it lsd compatible so for you, you went with the correct one.
