Shorting TE1 and E1

Hello! mates,

I have a question regarding the behavior of your engine when you short the TE1 and E1 as I have confusing result.

1) 4EFTE gen 1, when shorted the TE1 and E1 the engine becomes relax, the rpm goes down a little.
2) 4EFTE gen2, when shorted the TE1 and E1 the engine becomes agressive, the rpm goes up a little.

I try to use the gen 1 ecu on gen 2 engine and try to short the TE1 and E1 and the result was the engine still agressive while TE1 and E1 is shorted. So, I 'm thinking that it is not and ecu issue.

What should be the normal behavior of the engine when TE1 and E1 is shorted?

TIA

Both should drop the RPM.

I've found in the past that a rise in the RPM signals something is interfering with the correct operation of the diagnostic mode (this can affect ignition timing).

9 times out of 10 it's usually the throttle position sensor on the throttle body being out of calibration. Try resetting that and retest mate.

UPDATE!!!! You we're right Jay, it's the TPS not being calibrated. Now my engine is relaxing or the rpm goes down when the TE1 and E1 is shorted. I can make my ignition timing now to 10 deg.

I just have a follow up question, not sure if still related to timing. When I'm boosting and the RPM reaches 4k and above I'm experiencing hesitation or bogging down, there is also a back firing, but if I change gear (going up) it disappear but comes again when the RPM reaches 4k and above. What could be the problem? is it something to do with shims not properly installed in it's proper valve location? Is it fuel pump? etc....

TIA
