There is a Skretching noise coming from my engine, but this only happens when i first turn on the car and the car is cold? Then it goes away! lol.

Any ideas what it could be? I think it is coming from the first belt but i don't know what this belt is called? How bad is this and should i get it fixed? It goes away after about 1-2 mins.

Any help i would love,

Thanks.

Try to tension them a bit further. Should stop them to wake up the neiberhood every morning!Or if you have old belts just replace them. If they fail you will loose battery charging, cooling the engine,a/c,and power steering ..it depents wich belt will fail!

Thanks

Mate. I have been told i will have to remove the water pump to get to all my belts? And that is not cheap?

I would tighten it but as i don't know how i better take it to the shop. Just want to know alittle before i take it to them just incase they try to pull a fast 1 lol.

On the one side of the alternator is a long bracket with a screw. Undo this and use a bar to force the alternator against the engine. The alternator will moove back and tension the belt further. It is just 5 min job.Mark where the screw is sitting right now and adjusted to be 5-6 mm more than this point. The belt should not have any slack or else will slip on the pulleys when alternator is under load and produce the noise.
And no you dont have to take out the water pump to replace the belt.
Shoud be an other tensioner on the power steering but do one at the time and see how things gone.;)

mate i thinks its called drive belt or fan. it happened to me after i changed mine, didnt have it tight enough. its very loud and annoying.

adjust it like "350ep70gr" has explained. check the belt and see if it has any signs of bad wear, like cracks. if its got cracks then change it for a fresh one and make sure you get enought tension in it. you could get someone to help you put tension on the belt whilst you tighten the nut.

there should only be a little bit of slack in the belt.
