take it for a good run.....30 minutes-1 hour to get it up to proper temp, then see if its still smoking.if it is,its deffinatly not condensation.

seals-rebuild kit- are £60 from sam on here and aint 'too' hard to fit:)btw the smell.is it like burning oil on a hot surface?

Both incorrect, If I drive for 1 hour and then sit in traffic I still get condensation in cold weather and rebuild kits are not easy to do because they need to be ballanced after rebuilding.

I have seen some real messes on turbos which have been rebuilt using kits and usually after a home rebuild has gone wrong the turbo is completely ruined and thats if you avoid throwing parts of compressor blade into your engine.

Do you think turbo companys would spend tens of thousands on ballancing machines if they were not needed?

they can still shit themselves after being rebuilt and balanced proffesionally as i found out. but conversely you can also be fine rebuilding yourself and not balancing it.

your less likely to have a condensation build up if you have been for a reasonable drive. you need to do it during the day when the weather is a bit milder and usually not quite so cold and damp.

You are 110 times more lightly to have the gauranteed turbo build by professions last longer than the one you do yourself in the shed.

i definetly dont agree that rebuilding the turbo is an easy job.

if your not skilled with it then you wont even get the turbo off let alone rebuild the turbo.

cal please dont give out bad info, it may be easy for you but not everyone can do it.

its best to pay out a bit of money and do it properly not every 1 is D.I.Y

agreed, but it can still shit itself.
i think alot of the malta guys rebuild turbos and dont get them balanced. none have had any problems as far as i know!

but for the sake of £30 its hardly worth pissing about and you may as well get it balanced.

mines a bit like that too, when it heats up on tickover it puts out a sort off blue smoke, when cold there is no smoke at all just the condensation!!!

Guys unless you establish whether it is just condensation smoke or oil burning smoke there is nothing else anyone can say, if its cold mine will still give condensation even after a run.

Take it to someone who knows to see whats going on.
