soft coilovers

I run D2's on quite hard settings for the road shakes me to death but handling is very good. My wife's on the other hand runs Tein Super Streets and in comparison hers are on hardest damper settings and they are soft as shit and it feels like a boat round corners compared to mine.... Although it holds the road very well and conseals bumps very well.

i found the D2s were like driving a pogostick and most roads were dangerous as you were bounced all over the place.

the super streets are far better. softer i admit but definitely not boat like. would outperform D2s on backroads hands down

Mark you'll be surprised to find the Tanabes are 4kg Front & 6kg Rear.

You and me share the same models (only one made for ep9/ep82) and mine came with the manual.

If anything I'd want the spring rates either the same on both sides or the front slightly harder than the rear.

This is nothing compared to track/competition coilovers whose spring rates go into double figures.

I drive both setups back to back daily and disagree completely mate unless the wife's aren't setup very well (might be the higher profile tyres) mine is amazing compared to hers.

Exactly why I am scared of moving to Super Streets :(

I admit the D2's are sketchy on certain roads, but the handeling is great on decent roads. Couldnt bare to go for a better ride but boat type handeling!

we will have to agree to disagree.
i have had brand new sets of each of these coilovers on the car, plus its been the same car so easier to compare.

considering my teins are set with only 0.5 degree camber and the ride heights havnt been set accurately yet, the handling is awesome.

best decision i made swapping the D2s for super streets. was starting to hate driving the car due to the bad ride quality and lethal nature of the road holding

Badly set up then :). The roads around here are some of the worst you can find. Ask Grant how my car handles on these roads, no skipping around just firmly planted. The best advice I can give is have them professionally set up, no one on here can do that in their garage, believe me. All coilovers need to be set up on a decent 4 wheel alignment machine such as the Hunter and money spent on this will repay you ten fold on the road.

Now we have the BC's fitted it is even better :)

All coilovers are only as good as the person setting them up!

my junior specs are awsome.

never been setup up though apart from tracking adjustment, sticks to the road like shit on a bed sheet,

i agree with dave on this one

ive had jic magics they were rock hard, then i bought tein type flex they were ok but wasnt to keen and abbott wanted me to sell them to him so i did!!! then bought some bc coilovers from ebay for £500 delivered! and there by far the best you can really fine tune them and the ride is still very good!

£500 quid eh...will keep an eye out! Hee hee!

My D2's were professionally setup and still skip on certain roads and are harsh on others.

Must be all in the spring rates and damper adjustment IMO.

i would defiantly go for the bc coilovers there are uber soft- i have the apex version which are the same the spring rate may say it's higher then some but they are 32way damp adjustable put it to soft and they are lovely but still retain awesome road holding!
and can go as low as you want.

about 50% of the time, even on backroads, they were great coilovers. but it did beat you down if all you do is b road driving as it was hard work when it gets bad.
for uk roads they arent great as the springs are too hard. doesnt matter how well they were set up.

i have a superb road that runs right past where i live and with the D2s you could absolutely fly round those corners and the performance was awesome. But i have found that the teins are just as good, just easier to live with and less dangerous on really crap roads.

they are for track use at the end of the day, not for the street.

You got Super Streets?

I do :)

People have been saying they are very soft for coilovers...i disagree.

I never feel any noticable roll around corners, im running 45 profile tyres on the front and 50s on the back.

I'm not going to say weather or not they are better than this or that because i havnt driven MY car on a different set of coilovers...even driving another glanza the spec would be different, different tyres etc so wouldnt make for a valid comparison

I agree with Dunc on this one, i have Tein superstreet and its the single best purchase for my car ever. Better ride then the TRD shocks/unknown springs i had before and handles better too!!

I dont doubt the D2 can be better, but for road use SS all the way, altho of course the newer softer D2 should be better.

My mate has D2 on his EG Civic. It absolutely flew on track, and i mean flew. Mind you they were like 11kg front spring rate

Yes my teins are too soft for track, still get roll, but, 95% of my cars life is on the road. I plan to get some perhaps 8kg front 5 rear or maybe 7-4 for the SS to fit for track use. Would be awesome then

Hey Mark

Im not sure if i mentioned when i was talking to you last but were launching a new range of coilover kits soon which allow for full choice of Spring rates and they offer different types of spring for comfort, fast road use and track use so should cater for what you need :)

And there going to be at fantastic prices, we will have more details very soon for you
