Some one crashed into my car :( it was parked on my mums road where I'm doing engine change right up tight against curb and a big lorry tried coming down the road and stoved into the side of my car. :( the road is just about big enough to get a large 4x4 down it.

He drove into mine and tried to reverse back up the road and stoved into my neighbours car what a t***er to say the least.

The company he works for wants to pay cash would this be better or should I go through insurance route? Please help.

At least it getting fixed though I parked my impreza on same road and some one wrote it off and drove off complete loss and I was left with nothing as I was not at home :(

So long as you get the money you require then i would probably accept the cash, but be careful.

If you cannot agree a reasonable sum that you want then go down the insurance route, they are obviously wanting to avoid the insurance route to prevent an increase in there premium i would say.

Really sorry to hear about the damage, hopefully its not too bad!!

You must be due some serious good luck at some stage mate..

If it were me I'd take the money and run. Price everything via Toyota and get estimates from some pricey bodyshops. That should at least give you a few extra coins for all the hassle. If you went through insurance the car could be declared a writeoff so be wary.

As jay said..because the bloke was a complete tosser id get quotes from the priciest places possible!

Oh and make sure you report it to the police jus say theyve offered to settle it outside of the insurance, get a crime ref number jus incase it all goes pear shaped youve covered your own arse then

Heard this time and time again where people park on the street and have a bus or lorry drive into their car. Makes me wonder who employs these people.

As above take the cash as insurance will probably declare it as a write off, although saying that if you did go through insurance you could end up getting more replaced/sprayed than the damage which actually occured.

The police won't be interested as the driver hasn't actually commited a crime, if they fail to provide insurance details or whatever then yes thats a crime.

The police wont be interested if all is well but if it goes belly up they have to act....section 170 road traffic act form 206 if i remember rightly i worked for the old bill for 5years so im not talking bollocks.
Because he wasnt paying attention and hit a stationary vehicle it can be seen as careless driving or without due care and attention ;)

depending on the damage on your car ( if its worth repairing or not) try not to go down insurance route,

1. insurance premium will go up
2. insurance will most likely write off your car, so if wont be worth much according to insurance company if cat C,D ect.

be reasonable and get the repair done how you want, because a lot of insurance companies are crap.

let them rite the car off... and get another cleaner shel that wont be full of filler if the car is that badly hit.....

u can buy the car back from insurance if they rite it off, and swp all the bits over, if u buy a rolling sell..... or a ep85 even ;)
but its a lot of effort....

like mentioned above mate i would price everything up to the ying yang and then take the cash, my mate got hit and his insurance went up even tho it wasnt his fault, something about being a high risk driver, makes no sence everyone has the same chance of being crashed into

try and sqeeze a full respray out of them or threaten them with insurance say that the car is older there for the paint is weathered and will be extremely hard to colour match and you dont want to take the chanc that when the whole things over your car is two different colours !

sorry to hear bud and hope it all works out

I never said you was talking bollocks. But you won't be able to file a report or get a crime reference number when a crime hasn't been committed. It will prob never get that far anyway, the guys already got the details he needs.
