wow that is insane! is car tax high with all cars in ireland?

depends on the litre of the car. our roads are shite, but our tax is supposed to go towards the upkeep of the roads. which doesn't happen, so i refuse to pay tax to drive on roads that are damaging my car. thats what annoyed me about lads talking about the price of my crx, if i bought a car in england, lets say a 1998 evo5, for say £5000, i have to pay a registration tax here to get an irish plate, a percentage of the value of the car, higher the cc of the car the higher the percentage. so the tax on an evo 5 could be maybe €3000 -€4000! so by the time we get the car home and on the road it would be costing near 10k!
