Hmm interesting, perhaps people should realise if you pay peanuts you get monkeys, I do feel for the people who are having trouble though :(.

400quid for a turbo isnt really peanuts really

It is when they are cast from new materials so are not on an exchange basis and have all new parts or so I am told. Plus the postage over to the UK isnt cheap.

£400 is standard exchange rebuild money here in the UK for something with some quality.

brand spanking fresh casting turbos normally go for double the cost of a rebuild by a reputable turbo firm, most ct9's should cost 400, so for a brand new unit you be looking at 800 at least, toyota charge a grand if not more for a brand new one.

any way sam say's he is sorting it, so i'm sure it be fine

exactly. only stock part is the core itself. all internals, shaft, turbines and both housings are new.
also considering they are coming from the US they are at a very good price.

with the exchange rate £400 is $793 - from what I have seen over here parts and labour are much more competitive than Ireland and UK I would imagine - so I disagree that you should be expecting a crap turbo for this money. Anyway lets see what Sam has to say once they are back from the second turbo testers.

the lads that have had probs have the primed the turbo when fitting it?

Well you would be a retard not too, mine was being turned over with the king lead unplugged for about 1 min with the oil return pipe off, I watched the oil come out of the return so that is good enough in my opinion.

I have had a few convos with sam and have decided the cause.

All this is making me go nuts. I might want to ask for a refund as I really don't want to risk it.

I know how you feel Seed, but look at me, i was half way though the job, just because i needed some gaskets and i had to hold it off for one more day, than i found out all this, so i had to put everything back on for no reason. I was pissed, but i be more pissed when its all fitted but more problems occur.
Just wait and see what Sams solution is!!!:(

yep and comparing it to tong turbos group buy offer at 300pounds its a 100 more expensive

that was a one off never to happen again with virtualy no markup for me,
its to generate interest in the brand
i also agree with gv, that you should not expect a crap turbo for the money- thats just nonsense

i think you should. its way to cheap, and when you consider that sam must have atleast a 30-40% mark up well it's just silly cheap for a brand new cast unit.

anyhoo sam's sorting it now so fingers crossed

i'm quite worried now that you have mentioned how cheap the turbos actually are!

i use my car as a daily driver so i put the turbo on and it fooks up then i would be fooked as well!

all you guys are dramatizing too much the sitiuation ! GIVE the guy (sam)a chance to fix what is wrong in these turbos (could even be a defective bearing or seals which he would buy from elsewhere himself) and then if you still have problems ask for a refound! stop counting the chicks before they hatch!

From the feedback it liiks like its the seal or bearing , i saw turbos fitted that smoke heavily especially at idling and after a week stopped smoking all at once (it was until the seals got sealing properly) and they are still going strong today.
