Starlet wont run properly,keeps cutting out!!

Just looking a few suggestions on where to go from the point im currently at with a gt turbo.

Got the car on the basis it needed a fuel filter,changed that and no differance!

Basically the car takes moods when it will run 100% and you can boost away at it,and then suddenly it will start bogging down when it gets throttle and cutting out

I could go out now and it would randomly run fine for a while then start doing it,or i could go out and it will fire upto idle and as soon as it gets there it will cut out.

Other times it will fire up fine,tick over 100% and if i give it a tiny bit of throttle it will build up the boost ok,and as soon as i push the pedal any further it just bogs down and cuts out,just seems to run in completely random ways

So far the fuel pumps been changed,rotar arm,new leads,new idle control valve and new fuel filter.

It sounds as if it isnt getting fuel but had a boy check and the fuels coming to the injectors and all no problem

Anyone had something like this before? Mechanics baffled...any ideas appreciated

Is the engine standard man? I had a similar problem changed all the above Plus the plugs, removed the fuel rail to check for any deposits etc in the end a member on here suggested changing the water tempature sensor (the green ended one) That controls cold fueling. When I took it out it fell to pieces on my hands, since replacing it haven't had any problems.may not be the same problem Just an idea but may be worth a try, have you done a diagnostic test?

try the map sensor mate, sounds like what happend to mine to be honest!

take the hose off the map sensor and block it with your thumb, rev it a bit and see if it revs ok! if it does without dropping revs/cutting out then you need a new map sensor :)

There's a ton of possibilities but more often than not a diagnostic test followed by a proper check of all connections and earths is the best place to start. If you can get your hands on a donor car you can usually eliminate any suspect sensors one at a time. If you get stuck give us a shout.

Map sensor was already changed and it made no differance.

Yea mate i was told to check the coolant temp sensor so ill give that a go and also a few people have suggested checking all the earths so that seems to be the place to start,wirings a mess inside the car.

Car actually belongs to a site member from lisburn so i dont want to be spending alot on it incase its not going to be a simple fi,but ill give the above suggestions a go and see how i get on,thanks :D

Also meant to say,did the check in which you cross the wires on the diagnostics box,it came up with no faults

That usually rules out sensor issues but you can never be too sure. I personally start faultfinding on the aftermarket stuff that's been added as these cars are usually bulletproof when left standard. It's very common to find modifications are the root cause of problems as most are not fitted professionally. All too often it turns out to be a poor bit of wiring or a badly done connection.

The car is standard bar a fcd and ehausts system,could it be a fault with the fcd? Im not really up on what all these things do,im a french man lol

Yeah, FCD's are notorious for causing problems so check the connections are good and proper. If there's a fault with the unit itself a replacement is your best option. You can always remove it and turn the boost down if you hit fuel cut in the meantime.

I've seen quite a few JAM Fuel Cut Controllers go weird in the past. My auto suffered from the odd burst of misfiring at complete random, took ages to realise it was the FCC causing it. Only happened once/twice inside a month which made it hard to trace.

I have same issue niticed the plugs the 4 of them are all white which means there is a starvation of fuel , i replaced the high tension leads, fuel filter, lowered down the boost , tps sensor( just in case ). When i start accelerating on full throttle it starts to misfire sort of but very lightly and its intermittent
