td04 boost creep

i'm running a standard td04l turbo at 1.1 bar but it creeps up to 1.2-3 at 6000rpm by how much can i port the waste-gate to? has any one else had problems with boost creep on td04's?

Never had a problem with creep, usually they drop off a bit at high rpm and high boost, put you ebc on and you should be ok.

Also, an idea for you...

check the pipe going to the actuator, from the turbo is intact and free from any cuts/scrapes/damage which could lead to air leaking out. Make sure its connected at both ends very securely. That could lead to a rise in boost pressure if it was a small hole/cut in the pipe.

right fitted the ebc yesterday and where ever i set the boost to at just over 6000rpm i have 1.2-.3 bar. today i am going to remove the actuator and re-fit it as i dont think it is opening the waste-gate fully. Any other suggestions it could be?

took it off today and re-fitted it slightly differently but still the same problem it boosts up to 1.1 perfectly and stay at 1.1 in 2nd but 3rd and 4th it creeps up with the higher revs, getting stuck for ideas now:( and i've got a RR day on saturday and wanna sort it out before.

I have a similar issue with my td04. I have a turbo XS MBC and it's set to 1 bar which it stays at for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. In 4th though it will creep though. This is after I had it tuned. Let me know if you figure yours out though. I've just been easing off the throttle in 4th to keep it at about 1 bar.

yeah it might be but i havent changed anything apart from putting a ported and polished head on, and it didnt do it before:confused:

had i look at how far the wastegate penny could open today and it is hitting the screamer pipe dont have a clue how im gunna get round allowing it to open more:(

ok really stuck now, manage to sort out the problem with the waste-gate penny but it still boost creeps once i get above 6000rpm and hits fuel cut 1.2 bar. any one got any more ideas:confused:

i have changed from mesh to an air filter so that should have restricted it some what

Not necassarily, the pipework for the air filter could actually speed up the air flow into the turbo so sometimes the mesh is actually more restrictive.

Did it creep with just the mesh on too?
