You going to build your own engine then? bloody parts are getting dearer and dearer atm, headgaskets are silly money! :(

yeah thats the plan eventually, not going to do it quickly, lol.

garage is cleared now waiting for an engine, plan was to just find a cheap engine, strip it etc get it all clean. then gradually get all the parts and slowly put it all together, not the ideal situation, but its the best for my situation financially. lol

dub, do i remember you saying about oil pressure problems? could that be because of the grinding etc you did on the oil ways in the block? maybe the oil pump cant cope with the freed up passage's?

it looks like they have changed the td04 manis slightly as your turbo inlet points at a nice angle so easy to get the pipework on but mine was a bit orkward as it was so close to the oil filter housing. the paint on mine lasted about 10 mins lol

yeah can't fault how the turbo sits, paint has pretty much gone now.

sat nicely with an EP3 civic type R tonight, hehe. can't wait for more boost, it's all noise and no go at the min :haha:

we only opened the oil returns and de-burred the area where the oilpump mounts.

it was down to tollerances, after the crank was re-ground and new bearings fitted oil pressure was much better, although still lower than it should be. have got around it by running 20w/50 and oil pressure is spot on now :)

What boost you running on right now? I'm gonna have to run mine at .7 for a bit, hope that's not too slow!

yeah same here mines just running .5 bar atm and my mates r5 gtt keeps up with it haha.

running 10psi so 0.7 bar, and sat level with a civic type R so i suppose it's fairly quick for that.

ah well, it'll make the 1.4 bar feel all the more sweeter :)

its insane :D

2nd gear = useless though hehe

well it shouldn't be too long now, just injectors and a remap.

another concern is wondering if the clutch will hold out, it's done well so far and held 243bhp with no issues at all but it's been in the car for a couple of years now and was an ebay techniclutch jobby. :haha: :homer:

if it takes the heat i'll be amazed! really don't want a paddle clutch.

i see where your coming from, but the exedy paddles are far from harsh buddy :)

Although Abbott is running 290bhp on an exedy organic and has been for a fair while so you have that option buddy :)

mate had a 205GTI with a paddle clutch and it was fucking awful so i always made a point of avoiding them, guess i should give one another chance.

will murder the one i've got in first though :haha:

Iain,

I run the exedt 3 puck paddle clutch in my GT everyday.
Easy as hell, and has taken the abuse for 2 years now :D

Just throwing my oar in. :)

Oh and you have noticed the easy power option now! :[

cool, i'll bear it in mind then when this goes

went hybrid cos it came along at the right price and at the time there were no stock radiator friendly TD04 kits about.

always knew a td04 would be on the cards though :)

Nice update and some good pics man.

Noticed as some have mentioned your engine bay is really clean, is it a weekend car?

Also whats the diameter of the hybrid's inlet that you were using?

nope, daily drive mate :) when we built the engine we powder coated or painted pretty much everything making cleaning easy. keeping the plastic splash guards on helps a lot too.

will have to measure it, it was slightly bigger than a td04 though.
