TD04 shaft play? vid added!

my mate chucked his old impreza turbo out a few months back . i told him he was a bellend.

i will get my money back on this and then have a look about. im specifically looking for a tf035 (thats what this turbo is). was just easier to call it a td04 to save confusion.

must be a few forester drivers who have upgraded.

only received and emailed today so will give him a chance. cant open a dispute straight away anyway. will wait and see if he is true to his word of a refund if there is a problem first.

Just got some interesting info! Some TF035 turbos can actually be worse than a CT9 hybrid.
A certain model has a smaller turbine exducer than a CT9.
So watch out for that bud. You are after the ones that are around 37mm turbine exducer.

And that turbo has a lot of play for such a small one.
And oiling it will make it better but that does not mean the turbo is better then.

Looking at that video I would say there is more side to side movement than 1mm, if the blades are touching the side of the housing then its scrap.

1mm was a guestimation while i was still at work. it does look to be more than 1mm. just need a reply from that damn ebay seller now

that's way too much play. I took my fucked TD04 off just yesterday that was pissing oil through the chra and the play was quite similar to that as well as it just begun to scrape the housing

sorry to hear but that's not good, especially how you could clearly see the wheel move that much away from the housing in the first few seconds of the vid

the seller is willing to refund. but he also has another tf035 and a td04 so he is checking the condition of those so may just go for a swap. at least im going to get it sorted one way or another
