thermostat differences

Depends on the climate I guess. How hot is it there?

BTW, what temp for oil is 'warmed up' and started to lubricate the engine sufficently?

Only thing to do is take it out and try it mate and see if it gets to the usual temps at at the same rate. if not put it back in or get a low temp stat if you want it to open earlier.

Well it's allready out and the temp messure something less then half of it.

I was asking cause was just wondering if it's good to do that? And if start the car and let it work for 5 min it's allready warmed up.

But was just wondering if this is good.

Ahh...do you have some sort of water temp gauge? The standard gauge really is not accurate enough.

Well that's my prob don't have one and I think I've exaggerated
a bit let's say 3 min . But in the future I'll look up for one of those temp gauge

If the system is functioning correctly then you should have no reason to take the thermostat out.

If it was not needed in the first place they wouldnt have fitted one. If you are having stat problems buy a new one for it. I think however ones for warmer climates like yours they use stats that open at cooler temperatures.

you always want a thermostat on these and any car really, its not a good idea to take them out as the valve temp is cooled far too much, its not always a good idea to keep oil and coolant as cold as possible, more wear on every engine componant. As oil warms up the viscosity changes a rediculous amount and coolant running cold for longer will only make the cold idle run for much longer using more fuel to warm it up..... low temp thermostats will not lower the overall temp of coolant only take longer to get to that temp of 96 degrees or whatever running temp is

the reason starlets warm up so quickly is because the cooling system is so small mate. They heat up quickly because there is very little water flowing round gallerys, due to the water jackets being so small! ! dont worry its normal if u had a problem with it, temp will go up very quick and your heater wont work (been there done that)

I changed to a Sard stat and now when driving the needle only gets halfway on the gauge, except in traffic where it goes to normal.
