timing problem

lads have the timing set up right just a tought can the dizzy cap be out a tooth if i cant get my timing 10 degress ?any input would be great

the dizzy will only go in one way i thought. surely it would be your timing belt off by a tooth.

ted ive took the covers off line it all up right turned over the crank 4 times marks are all perfect cam marks 4e perfect just when useing the light on it cant get it to 10 degress driving me nuts.

Clean the pulley with brake clean, and take a white paint marker and dab it on the notch in the pulley. This is a sure way to make sure you're seeing the real TDC. Try that out and let us know how it goes.

Also, are you jumping the Te and Te1 ports on the diagnostic module when checking your timing?

corey was up with chris the weekend he was cheking it too he was saying the timing was out a bit as we couldnt get a good map at all.as it was bogging down on full boost but today i changed the plugs dizzy cap and that seemed to sort the boging down out he try it with his timing light and couldnt get it either :confused:

im thinking if i drive it could the ecu reset it or if i pull the efi out for a while could this help mybe:confused:

yes lad ive done timing on loads of starlets this one has me crazy :mad:

I apologize for asking such Mickey Mouse questions, just trying to get you sorted as I know the frustrations of these minor issues.

You've said all cam and crank markings are lining up as well, even after 4 revolutions of the motor.

Where exactly is the timing mark sitting?

chris that time when we were mapping think it was the dizzy cap and leads that were holding it back seems to pull fine now but just have it running low boost

timming marks have the crank gear set to the mark on the oil pump ,cam gear set to 4e mark right dot when you look through the hole on the cam cap.think thats it ,also the cams are set intake 2dots and exhaust the big dot,thanks for the input lad need all the help on this one might do it again tomorrow and video it step by step
