Tongs gt spec hybrid

i am gettin a tongs gtspec hybrid which the actuator is boosting around 10psi

what could i boost this to safely without gettin car sent away and set up,

i have an fcd what should i set it at?

ive been through too many standard turbos and got this for reliabilty and dont want to wreck my engine instead

cheers :~) :homer:

Set the FCD to 0 ie off, or remove it, and boost to ~0.65 bar or standard boost until you get it checked with a wideband meter and det cans, better safe than sorry

if i turn the fcd to 0 will my car run? i was thinkin should be able to go up a wee bit on the boost without getting it set up lol

Yep it will run just like there is no fcd there, it just saves the hassle of breaking soldering etc

A hybrid will be pushing more air that a stock ct9 so it would be best to check your fuelling is inline with either a decrease or increase in boost

For how much it would cost to have a RR session and have everything monitored it isn't worth the risk.

I would put some money aside and get proper management when you can also, FCD & FPR isn't the best route to go down.

I'd strongly advise getting the AFR's checked before you go boosting mate.

A hybrid turbo will push more air than a standard one so if you run out of fuel to support it then you are into engine breaking territory.

The HKS FCD will pull fuel out of the mix so it's best to switch it to zero and have it set in conjunction with a wideband. Makes sense to be cautious when fiddling with fueling. A road tune stings around £40/50 which is a fraction of an engine rebuild.

I'm running a Tongs GT spec on my daily and it's sharp enough at 12 psi.

Any hassles just shout.

The Tongs has served me well over the years although I find it lacks the 'punch' of the TD04. Never really bothered me TBH as it's nice to drive something a little different. I rate it far better than the equivalent Speedvision hybrid.

Check your inbox there ref fueling.

A few seconds of detonation will kill an engine so don't boost until you have the wideband on. Drive off boost until it's being measured in a controlled fashion.
