I have a front mount and I was just wondering what's the best thing to do with the scoop?

I want to keep it as is as it looks awesome on the outside, but don't like the idea of water getting on to the engine...

Thanks anyone

Reps given as usual!

i also have a reverse scoop, and there awesome...
ive noticed less heat under hood after a rag when open bonnet, and with my carbon bits on front looks more suttle..
also less water on engine once has rained...

Reverse scoop or change the bonnet! The Starlet ep82 GI and the ep91 Glanza S both have the same style of hood as the GT and V but with the intake smoothed over.

I like the way it looks as it is! Really don't like how the reverse scoop looks, even though I understand that it's effective and does the job.

The original scoop designed to get some air inside in order to cool down the Top Mount, well what if somehow direct the air flow, say on to the inlet manifold in order to cool it down?

Reverse scoops are suppost to cool down the engine buy allowing air to pass through the front of the car over the engine then up through the scoop and out. It give the cold air a better flow over the engine, or at least its meant to. Not really sure if this would be more or less effective than the forward scoop simply blowing cold air down on the the rocker or like you say directing it towards the inlet.

The reverse scoop cools down the engine bay by the movement of the air travelling over it. This air creates a vacuum, pulling the warm air out through the hole in the scoop so the faster you go the more air is removed. The slit on the scoop is also high enough any of the scoops I have seen not to allow rain water to flow down the bonnet, through the slit and onto the engine when the car is stationary which is another bonus

I would definately do something to block the hole, when I had mine uncovered for a while I used to frequently get misfires in the morning after rain water had got into the sparkplug chambers.

Thanks guys! I'll think of something to divert the air flow towards the inlet mani, cooling it down (especially when raining) in theory should help a little bit -))) But definitely need to make sure that the water doesn't get on top of the engine, I don't get any misfire but it's just getting dirty pretty quick and I believe pouring cold water on to the hot engine don't do any good either.
