Can you even get insured in a MR2 at 19???

I cant and I have tried every where, really love them cars! :(

I am unsure - doubtful to be honest. I went through Elephant. They have a few GT turbo import options. With some of them you'd get a quote and others you wouldn't. You couldn't get a quote on a GTS.

I would advise you to drive both mate. To me the RX8 has the handling nailed whereas I know of MR2 turbo owners who take the bus when it's raining for safety reasons..

My ma's RX8 is the prodrive 231bhp edition so it has a bit more grunt, the 192 versions aren't as inspiring. The looks, styling and finish are great, can't fault this prodrive after two years of driving. Major disadvantages are the running costs and tax bracket.

At the same time you may find the MR2 is more suited to your tastes, driving and image. Insurance isn't too expensive on them recently and you would at least be keeping it Toyota.

At the end of the day it depends what you are after, do your research, try both then make an educated decision.

Onwards and upwards eh? :)

The insurance on the MR2 isnt that bad really. For me it was an extra £500 ontop of what im paying for the starlet. that was on a rev 3 JDM turbo.

Just looking at the pics, and having not read the spec. is that an XS power smic? Those are a little upgrade from standard but not amazing. for better cooling Chargecooler is the way to go

That's one thing I can vouch for - if a tubby MR2 steps out you better be quick to correct them or you will be dizzy for a week. Fine if you have the skillz and ability. Let's just say I'm barred from anything RWD due to my lack of either..

The RX8 has that marvellous traction control to help you out, gotta love the flashing yellow lamp telling you it'll all be over soon.

the 2's will bite you if you abuse it in the wet, but i know of alot of other cars that would do the same!.

Sounds like fun!!! lol! My first car was a Pajero jr  i know it was only 1.1 but fuck me it was lethal in the wet. the body roll was out of this world and it bounced all over the place, scared the utter shite out of my friends behind me as it would hop and slide around.

So im kinda used to shitty handling!!! At least a mr2 is low so it shouldnt turn over easily!!
