I think i'd prefare some heavier steering, i understand exactly wot u mean by what u say about the steering being a bit light i'd have to agree.

told you you'd like it Gee :D

Spuddy, the quaife diff is awesome, couldn't believe how much it transformed the car it went on. makes the power so much more useable which has got to be a good thing! :)

I have a standard Toyota one and it's astonishing, because it's paired to the equal length driveshafts.

Original option aswell. 053 number on the firewall.

Wouldn't swap it for the world!

Rik, It is a helical one I used. Simply because it is more or less maintainance free.

Mike, you did mate. Loving it.

Sigma, I see what you mean. You probably don't get any torque steer then? I have read on here than some don't rate the OEM LSD that much, but I have no experience with it. To be fair, aslong as you hold tight the torque steer is very easy to control and not always there.

Got a question on the LSD.

I live on a slight hill, so when I check my oil I roll the car the car down the hill in neutral to a flat spot. Can this effect the LSD at all, even thou the clutch is not engaged? I'm asking because I know that with the S2000, if it is towed it can damage the LSD.

Secondly, would parking in gear have any negative effect?

Wont do anything really, especially if you roll straight backwards/forwards without going round corners.

The damage on the S2000 might be caused because there will be no oil circulating around the diff.

Nah i doubt it, its just the problem of each output shaft form the diff rotating at different speeds with no oil circulation that will cause a problem I think.

God knows what LSD is fitted to mine, but when I changed the gearbox oil the difference was incredible. I noticed the same btw, Gee, as in on the straights there is little difference, but it feels much more planted on the corners.

Awesome bit of kit

Always use a good brand of oil mate. IMO, no point cutting corners when spending so much on the thing in the 1st place.

Good oil can make a good difference.

I am using Red Line at the moment.

gee i guess youve got the same diff as me,

do you find it knocks slightly when coming off the clutch or turning in tightish junctions?

sorry to go slightly off topic Gee, but how are you finding the gearbox now its been rebuilt? does it drop into gear smooth and easy, can you really give it some from first to second etc?

Adam,

Not noticed anything like that to be honest, except for today it knocks/judders ever so slightly when coming off the clutch from a gear change. Can't say it does it all the time thou, only noticed it today, so maybe my dodgy driving :D I'm such a paranoid thou, any normal person would probably not even notice it was there.

Cornish,

All the seals, relevent bearings and a synchro were replaced. Anything that did not need changing wasnt, so its not going to be 100% silky smooth to be honest. it's good as it is going to be without a full blown replacement of all parts IMO. I guess you could do it, but it would cost big bucks and you can only get the box to perform as good as the parts and design. They may not of been all that silky and smooth to todays standards anyway.

I get no sticking or having to jam into gears etc.

Have you got some issues with your gearbox?

yea its fucked lol - you can't change fast between 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd and its very sticky in the gears - almost feels like the clutch isnt dis-engaging properly

I never got anything like that with my old box which had done over 100,000 miles. So once repaired mate, ofcourse your box will change gear without hassle!

I think you have got too used to using a shafted box LOL

One thing,

Reverse seems a bit funny, not as loose or smooth when reversing.

Anyone else noticed this after fitting an LSD?

the gearbox code will be C53 instead of C52. Also you can look under the car and soo if your drive shafts are equal length or not, standard LSD has equal length shafts and non-LSD has the driver side longer than the passenger side.
