ya my cuz blacked out the 2 rear windows and put a wooden board in the boot and it classified as a van...simple...next job take out rear seats:p

Yea this is done all the time.

I will find out all the regulations for you ASAP.

I do know that you have to get it weighed also.

You now need to get an engineers report to state it has been done according to the Laws.

You need get rid of the back seats and put at a flat floor in.

And yea I have heard of people getting away with just tinting the rear windows;)

Now when I think of this I am surprised not many Glanza's / GT's have been converted to vans in Ireland for the big savings on Tax and Insurance

And YES IT IS LEGAL.

wat a strange rule lol..

not really... I mean if you are using a commercial van you are not carrying passengers and most people using a van will be using it for work. Tax breaks are often given to commercial vehicles in many different countries ;)

this is perfectly legal!! 1st remove rear seats and seatbelts, points where the seat belts have been removed must be spot-welded and covered in as to prevent seats being put back in after inspection. a very dark tint will do for the two rear side and rear windows. a floor must be put in place where the rear seat was. vehicle to be presented to the revenue for inspection, once inspected, can be doe'd and taxed at the commercial rate, something like €277 for the year i think! hope this helps.
