im in the process of removing my gbox, and i'd like to know if the oil needs draining, or is it sealed? and can i get away with just pulling out the passenger side drive shaft? if so, how do you remove it?

yeah, definatly proving difficult!

sprayed some WD on it and used a large breaker bar and still it wouldn't budge, even though a mate was stood on the brakes. just span the disc :(

lost the light now (bloody winter), so will have a looksie for that topic. thanks mate :)

Get a crowbar or long piece of pipe and use that by fitting one end between 2 wheel studs and let the other end hit onto the ground to stop the hub turning.

You could remove the hub from the wishbone, trackrod end and strut, and remove the shaft still in the box, but its very awkward and you could damage a cv boot.

This is how id one it with easy.

I have wheel cap so it was easy or you try this with spare wheel if the socket can go through it.
*Support the jack under the car, place the socket on to hub bolt, using a rachet (heavy duty), then using the jack bar, place it through the rachet and turn it. should click and loose.
*then lose the remained of wheel nust and jack up the car

if not replacing the drive shafts, just undo the 3 bolts that hold the ball joint and hub to the wishbone, and then remove shafts from gearbox..

i dont quite understand why you are trying to remove the shaft completely off the car.

I think im just understanding this aswell :homer: As above, just drop the 3 bolts from the hub and pull the shafts out the box and tuck them out the way,no need to take them right out just added hassle.
