Wanted - lightweight flywheel

has anyone tried the JC project ones that seem cheap online?
All said tho, a flywheel shouldnt be skimped on. Not many people live to tell the tale of a flywheel failure

please Phil, I beg you dont lighten it! just hold tight and buy a proper lightER one made from the appropriate materials! Id hate to see members literally cut in two. Im a deep advocate of fabricating a part designed for the job under this circumstance.

i think phil/flip has a stock flywheel lyn around somewere if trevors still after one

if done properly the stock flywheel is ok to lighten..i've had one down to 10lbs...just don't take meat off from the middle

i've seen one with alot taken off from the middle (makes no sense as it wouldnt decrease the inertia in any case) and it broke away right from there. luckily the bellhousing stopped it barely as it almost cut through

I know people have done them, but you have to ask whether its worth the risk, yesteerday we had a flywheel in which had a cracked and split clutch. the driver was unaware of any issue other than perhaps a clutch that was starting to slip.
basically the fly went blue and started to hairline fracture around the perimiter of the teeth, should it have failed id hate to have been around.
Lightened ones are fabricated from stronger, but lighter materials like chromoly in order to retain the strength and resiliance of a stock wheel but with less mass. and for all the money thats being saved id plump for a proper one time and time again
