Its ok if you have a torque ratchet but a lot of people wouldnt have access to one and if you go to a local tyre place in Ireland and tell them torque those nuts to 70 nm's they'd be looking at you stupid, all I can say is to just keep them checked regularly to the lad's that dont have torque ratchets

you must go to some right cowboy tire places if they dont know how to torque up wheel nuts. every one i have been too have torqued up the nuts everytime.

The motto over here is if its tight its tight it doesnt really matter where you go, I have had issues with a toyota main dealer before they over tightened all the nuts on my old wheels and I couldnt get the locking nut off and broke the lock nut key in the process they had to drill out all the studs to get them off and they wouldnt replace the nuts so I had to pay for new ones myself they seem to use impact guns all the time on cars I refuse to let anybody near my car with an impact gun as a result of this

p.s I have a torque ratchet myself

Thats quite a lot of torque, but if thats what the manufacturer says to use then thats the figure.

Rays are about 70NM from memory, if you overtighten them you can stretch the threads and then they are useless so its worth paying attention to when using them.

ive always used 103 nm, even with my aluminium wheel nuts. been on and off the car a few times and they seem fine so far!
