Good advice about the diet lads, I know it all myself too but its hard to give up the nice stuff!!!

unfortunately hun, sacrifices must be made, you dont have to cut all the nice things out of your diet..
There are some wickedly devilish things you can make these days and there not to bad for you.. :)
you just have to look about and not splurge :)

this thread is going off course pretty quick.

Dan- losing weight is hard and its all a mental thing.

Boredom often leads to snacking, i find i do it myself and im of normal weight.

Try not to eat late at night, the last thing you should have to eat should be(at a maximum) 7.30/8pm. After that try and stay on liquids, or healthy snacks if you have to. Dried fruit is tasty.

Stay off chocolate though, thats probably the cause of your weight gain. Its soooo fattening its unreal.
People dont realise how bad it is, one boost bar has an average 0f 5.6g of saturated fat. Your allowed a maximum of 20g a day.

Eugh, sort the diet out and get on the treadmill. It's really that simple, the hard part is motivation, self discipline and applying yourself mentally. It won't only help you in the gym but it will help your attitude to all things in life, especially your goals or ambitions.

Good luck.

Its a mental thing dude if you get into the habit of eating better foods it'll stick. instead of going for a chocolate bar you'll eat a piece of fruit. take it one day at a time and get into a routine.

My mums lost around 3 stone in 7weeks without any exersize purely down to cutting out crap, and only eating 3 meals a day brek lunch dinner with no snacking inbetween or eating after 7ish. each time you snack your body has to start the food process which isnt good for you at all which also contributes to gaining weight, If you do want a cheeky chocolate bar eat it with your meal that way its all digested one time!

Good luck pal... I've the opposite problem to you... i can't gain weight :(

Myth, you will loose more weight eating smaller amounts more often (Every 3-4 hours). This speeds up your metabolism, also your organs burn calories whilst digesting food. Also prevents your pancreas releasing the insulin hormone which causes you to store fat.

my routine:

8am, 3 weetabix, skimmed milk

10am, banana

12-1 - a wrap of some description, often ham and tomatoe or something like that, avoiding bread if possible.

2, more fruit,

3 and 4 more fruit!

6ish, this is my downfall, should have a proper dinner but often am in a rush so end up making a sandwhich or eating pasta etc. if in a good mood though then chicken casserole or something like that.

8 - gym, 20 mins warmup light weight high reps. burns all the glycogen out of your muscles so when you hit the CV equipement your primary fuel will be bodyfat

30 mins xtrainer, target heartrate of 135bpm (easy peasy, working balls to the wall reduces fat burning as the body finds it too hard to break down quickly)
30 mins bike, again either target heart rate or push a bit harder to build fitness too.

now my main weakness if i need to eat after the gym so i do my best to eat healthily, so fruit etc but if i'm famished then a bowl of cereal.

worked so far, 6 stone in 2 1/2 years. probably would have been more if i was proper strict on the diet, which i'm not.

hope that helps

Yeah take heed from these guys Dan, Especially Luke! This guy knows how to train, i wish i had the drive to do it but i just cant get down to it, as i would like to build a bit more muscle!

I find once you finally start working to a routine, it isnt so bad.

Gym fees are worth it when you need 120kg of weight to bench press or deadlift :p Dumbells are great too.

Oh no doubt if your goin big into the bodybuildin you'd def need to join a gym, what I'm sayin is you don't need to join a gym to loose weight or maintain your fitness!!
